do you recommend to replace the camshaft seals? it was not depicted in this
video. I must say it is not easy changing the timing belt on this one

Nightneo2000 says:

great video, but i love the sound of Non-Air tools.

Sean H says:

Bent the crap out of the oil pan and bent the inner timing cover plate.
Good job

Bryan Le says:

I like how you say everything is “real simple”….no man, it’s not simple
to the average joe

Whats the average weekly wage for a good experienced Vehicle Technician
(Mechanic) in the USA ?

David Mortiz says:

@calistofox ? His back is fucked up?

dmorley100 says:

This looks like it’s just as big a horses ass as a timing belt on a GM 3.4
DOHC motor.

Borda Dorda says:

Man I just finished doing my cambelt watching your video. It was very easy
the way you doing the cambelt. Thanks a lot once again. It was lots of
help. I diffidently recommend your video to every one who want to do the
cambelt on their Gto, Thanks

@mrwhtcrckr I fully indersand where you are coming from my friend, though
where Im coming from is 20 years experience on the tools for VW/Audi and
they kind of stopped calling ‘Techs’ ‘mechanics’ about 10 years or so
ago..can you give me an idea what kind of salary should I expect If i deide
to relocate to the states??I have a very good name where I come from and my
references are from Brand managers and Workshop controllers i have worked
with for many years now.

Jafromobile says:

Love what you’re doing here. Most mechanics are pissed when I post stuff
like this, but you’re a mechanic… posting stuff like this… That’s
freakin’ awesome! I don’t even see ads! Take the spark plugs out, it turns
much easier. 🙂

rogueorange says:

you dont need one, if they move just move them back, take photos of the
blet before removal and mark the gears, also you can use zip ties (cable
ties) to hold the cams together

jaitchy says:

You absolutely cannot jack on the sump / oil pan 2:37. The pan can deform
and the oil strainer will get damaged/restricted. Serious engine damage can
result from this all too common practise.

importworx says:

on 6:45 you should have put some petrolateum or petroleum jelly on that
o-ring for a better seal.

austin12089 says:

I used to do these all day when I was 16 and worked for Mitsubishi. Bad
practice though turning engine over by cam.

Terry Clark says:

Bad bad example set by this guy not only turning engine by camshaft bolt
but also turning the engine counter clockwise omg

Bruno Calisto says:

@devilslice yes . you are right saying that is wrong turning the cam bolt,
and is more difficult for sure (more heavy)!! but if is back is like mine ,
tottaly fucked up, i understand. because sometimes i do the same job.

ONEQUICKVR4 says:

2:33 jackstand right under the oil pan strainer. bye bye engine bearings.
thank god I do my own work.

Shazee083 says:

@007bondspy 15 average good experienced either is average or good
experienced

zackis480 says:

lets round the fucken cam bolt,, thats not the way of showing people how to
do that. 3.21 it rounds it, can you work on my car and do that.

timothyj94 says:

NEVER RE USE YOUR TENSIONER, OR A NON MISTUBISHI TENSIONER. NEVER JACK ON
THE OIL PAN

Bruno Calisto says:

@devilslice maybe is backs is fuckd up like mine!

jeflagoon says:

@jaitchy its a cast pan so its strong enough , just use a block of wood ,

neno meza says:

But good vid though, except for the jack on the oil pan.

Adam Bryan says:

Oh Boy this video reminds me, I’ve got to get my Timing belt Done on my
1995 KS Verada soon (has the 6G72 SOHC 12 valve 3 litre) it only got done 2
years ago but that was 93,000km ago, I do mine every 100,000km well my
mechanic does and he does the FULL MAJOR service cleans the engine, oil,
filters, coolant, cleans the injecters etc walked out $1300 ligter last
time for the timing belt change and major service the good Old things built
for Aussie Conditions

ghamaa50 says:

What will happen to the 2003 Mitsubishi Magna engine if the the timing belt
broke. I heard that some engines do not get damaged when the timing belt is
broken. This types of engine called free reeving Engines. Please give me
link of a website to show that magna engine do not damage when timing belt
is broken.

savvaske35 says:

i can’t believe you re turning motor by cams. No way…. Gets to marks
throught turning CLOCKWISE the crank pulley. starting wrong, ending wrong.
sorry.

007bondspy says:

@Shazee083 I’ve been a tech for just under 20 years now, I’m very
experienced, VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) trained, and already had 3
understudies who went on from mechanic to tech. I’am very interested in
relocating to the U.S and I would appreciate it if you could give me a
rough idea what kind of money is out there. The only field i dont have
experience of format is auto transmissions as here in the uk they are not
popular. Would this be a problem?.. thanks in advance for gettin back to me.

adan1799able says:

thank you men be good godbless

Jon Merlin says:

Totally fascinating stuff. After watching this I am 99% sure I will not
attempt to do the belt on my Hyundai G4FK twin cam. Great video

z44 says:

Stop Trolling and Make a better Video About how to Fix Idle Problems and
Set Ignition Timing on this Sucker If you CAN

jeflagoon says:

@jaitchy hmm it looks cast to me but ive never worked on one so i couldnt
say for sure, either way if your not an idiot and are carefull its fine to
lift on the pan ,its common practice, even in some factory service manuals
they tell you to do this

jaitchy says:

@jeflagoon – It absolutely is not a cast pan on a 6G72 (2 bolt or 4 bolt)
on a 3000GT/VR4/GTO. It is pressed steel and is easily damaged by jacking
on the bottom of the pan. Have a look on 3si.org.

activedentalfloss says:

No locking tool for the cams?

Jwasherenow says:

few tips for the home mechanic , if you dont have an impact gun to take of
crankshaft pulley, put on a breaker bar and lean against frame , then crank
the engine until it breaks it loose, also when u do the auto tensioner if
you dont have factory pin to slide in a very small allen wrench works
perfect , LOL @ the guy lowering the oil pan directly onto the jackstand,
oh and pry bar on the waterpump is completely unecessary haha , But still
great vid & info
