I WOULD NEVER USE WIRES TO HOLD THAT SPRING, i saw a guy at the junk yard do the same thing and the wires didnt hold the tension and the spring popped and hit the guy in the face it broke his nose, teeth and jaw, its an image i will never forget what happen to that guy. If you need to remove the springs out of your struts buy the tool or rent it, think of your safety first
I cringe seeing people do this, the proper tool is not that expensive and safer.
If you ever seen a compressed spring fly off the strut you wouldn't even consider dong it this way.
Be safe man. My spring compressor was only 50 bucks
