Hello I have a JVC and think the light engine is dirty. I pulled it out and cleaned it however it still is kind of dark from the middle down. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Chris C says:

think the Glue in my light tunnel is melted and went bad. if I turn it 1 way it shows at the bottom.

I have shadow on my same tv it starts from the Top middle to the left middle . Will this adjustment Fix that issue? I can still see a Pic threw the shadow. The shadow looks like someone pit a piece of paper over the bulb or lens.

Hey, thanks for the reply norcal. I saw your video on color solarizing and feel pretty sure that’s it. Which is probably why you advised to carefully clean the color wheel part. Don’t trust myself beyond changing the lamp, but at least i feel i can pay for a color wheel cleaning. Thanks a TON.

norcal715 says:

look at the color wheel rotor and see if the rotor is discolred. very carefully clean and polish the color wheel rotor with a fine wire brush while being careful the color wheel is thin glass ant the rotation sensor is just tape on the rotor.

Like fisal sadoon, my tv is behaving odd too. Mine is dim and after an hour or so, the colors begin to look like cgi when its real film. I have a new lamp and keep a fan blowing towards the lamp “area” to keep cool(?) You seem to be the one to ask, so any thoughts wpuld be greatly appreciated. Great, informative video too. Thanks!

Watching hockey the other nite and noticed my screen has blotches on the white ice.
Green red and blue light colored smudes is this from a dirty light tunnel or wheel or both. Something has to make the smudes with color. Brought up the menu for adjustment and color bar is clear but smudgy. Thanks very much for the vides best I have seen on youtune for completeness.

thank you very much for the tutorial!

Fisal Sadoon says:

thanks for the very helpful videos,i have WD-82738 , the picture was flickering and squeaking sound comes from the tv ,changed the color wheel ,and it is working good now . ,but the colors are dim ,so when i put the light bulb power setting to BRIGHT ,the color will be great for 30 sec or so ,and then flickering will start again .until i put the lamp setting back stander then teh picture will go back to normal dark dim color .is it the lamp or i got bad color wheel ?
again ,thank you

norcal715 says:

you have to move the engine (rotate it) then lock it down.

Darrel Montford says:

That was very helpful, and got mine aligned the same way you did. Do you know how to change the angle of the picture? mine has one side higher than the other.

norcal715 says:

Love the DLP richness of the picture and depth of colors. Especially the Mitsubishi’s for contrast ratio and clarity. Its like an audiophile comparing record albums played on a tube amplifier to mp3’s played on a ipod.

Good job! – Wow that’s a big TV!

mrsemifixit says:

Nice. Surprised you have a dlp set since you’re always praising plasmas lol. Are these worth having/picture quality good? I’m always finding broken ones people are giving away for free on Craigslist in my area.
