I have a 60″ HL-T6187S and the screen has begun flickering. I have read
some fixes that say its the bulb and others that say its the color wheel.
The flickering only occurs when my cable box and tv are on. If I have my
playstation 3 or a movie on the flickering does not occur. Any
suggestions?

good tutorial 🙂

i get a real dim image on my hlt5676sx dose thats sound like a bulp problem?

xjailbird1210 says:

This was very helpful I am glad I watched it. I am getting my new lamp
today. Anyone looking to get a new lamp for your DLP tv. A good lamp should
cost you over $100 if it doesn’t it is most likely crap. A friend of mine
got a cheap lamp and his picture quality is pretty bad because the lamp is
responsible for making the colors vivid and bright. Also I got a Philips
made bulb that is incidental to the one I got new. One last thing buy the
housing included, to make things easier.

is he protecting himself from high heat and voltage electricty with a pair
of medical exam gloves?

SativaR1983 says:

I went to the link you posted after I realized I had to decode it….lol.
When I plug my TV in it starts to turn on but no picture and I see the lamp
light blinking. The TV repeats this process a few times then it gives up,
shuts down and all three lights (standby/temp, timer and lamp) blink.
According to your link that indicates that the lamp may be bad. Do you
agree? Model and Serial. HLS5087WX/XAA B19G3CEL803953J

It took me and my seven year old daughter 2 minutes and thirty seconds to

Hey, I heard that AKAI was made by Samsung, idk if it is true or not, but
i’ll ask anyway. I have a AKAI PT5299HD, and the contrast seems to be
getting a little red, I have my contrast turned all the way down to cool 9
or 10 and it seem to have helped it out far as looking better, but it’s
slowly getting redder and redder, I would hate to throw it out because it
looks like brand new, even though it 10+ years old, anyway I can fix it or
find parts to fix it? Thanks Alot!!!

Willie McDaries says:

@SamsungService OK,that is what I was hoping to hear 😀 I’ll change the
bulb, thank you so much…this has been an awesome TV….Samsung rocks 😀

SamsungService says:

Hey Scorpion24, Sorry but I can’t really speculate on any tech help for
other companies devices. Good luck.

Jasymin Thomas says:

Did you ever get the tv to work. I just change the lamp which was too easy,
but the three lights are still flashing.

What a great video man–this might even be my exact TV model. You just
saved me at least $50. Thanks so much….how easy!!!

godzillaoverkill says:

We have a TV like this and the color is fading, looks very bright/pale. Any
suggestions or is this a bulb issue? Thanks

Theresa Airey says:

I changed the bulb and my Samsung HLR6156WX/XAA still has the three
flashing indicator lights and no picture. Is there something I need to
reset, I’ve searched for solutions and tried resetting the lamp timer with
the PIP button on remote and the Vol – button the the tv. This did not
work. Can you tell me any other way to get this working again? There is no
noise, no humming, nothing.

SamsungService says:

Unfortunately, that would be something you would need to reach out to
Toshiba for answers for. Sorry for the inconvenience.

tradepub says:

Hi please Help!!! I have a Samsung DLP R6168 W and I had replaced the bulb
about 6 months ago. The other day as I was watching TV and I heard a pop
spound, the TV went B&W for a few seconds, then no image. The Lamp light was
blinking so I assumed the bulb burned again.I noticed that the new bulb
wasn’t burned, I still went ahead and replace it. When I turned the TV back
on ,there was a buzzing sound like a fan going on but the Lamp light still
blinking and no image, any idea what this may be?cc

SamsungService says:

@SeasikTugboat It could be anywhere from the ballast to another light
source. We recommend contacting 1800SAMSUNG to set up service or for more
troubleshooting.

bustfer07 says:

what if the lamp light still lights up ?????

SamsungService says:

@sweetjuice143 Most bulbs last 8,000-10,000 hours.

SamsungService says:

@someguy1341 This is possible. We do recommend contacting 1-800-SAMSUNG to
speak with a Samsung technician directly to do some troubleshooting and
find the exact issue. Thanks!

420bloodshoteyes says:

I have a samsung DLP HL-R4266W the standby/temp light is on and the tv will
not turn on. I guess it is standby mode, how do I get my tv on?

phidelt45 says:

my 50″ DLP turns on for about 20 seconds and then powers itself off and I
get some flashing lights. Will replacing the lamp solve this or do you
think it’s something else? Please help!!!

SamsungService says:

@Cptpainter It depends on which model you have, however, you can check
Samsungparts(dot)com to find the lamp needed for your particular unit.

bob joe says:

@phidelt45 Have you solved your issue? I have the same problem.

Andy Snelling says:

I just replaced the lamp on my DLP, and I have to say this video is nearly
completely worthless. I understand all models are going to be a little
different, but the back and inside of my television looks NOTHING like the
television in this video, and it’s never addressed. Not even a little.
There is a huge plastic piece in front of the lamp on my DLP that I had
absolutely no clue what to do with. The video shows how to unscrew screws
and tells you not to touch the bulb. Are we stupid?

sloracer1080 says:

Hi, I have an HLR-5078w. I replaced the lamp when the original died after
5yrs. Since then the tv makes a high pitched screeching noise, sounds like
a bomb falling in an old nintendo 8-bit video game. For the first couple of
weeks it would make the noise, but after a couple cycles, the tv would turn
on and be fine for the rest of the day. Now it will not turn on, still
makes the screeching noise. Colorwheel was real squeeky, so I replaced
that, but still no luck. Any ideas? Ballast maybe? Thanks

SamsungService says:

@camarocrazy100 Glad it worked for you. LEt us know if you ahve any more
questions!

SamsungService says:

Good to hear. Glad it all worked out!
