ifish4muskies says:

Why does the photo of the manual show that the tranny takes 8.1 or 8.6 quarts of fluid, but your video states 5 and a half quarts?

Thanks Dan, I assume it’s the same case for the ’04 Galant then. Thanks again. Here is an idea for another video, how to change the spark plug seals (involves removing the valve cover). My sparks have oil at 82k miles and a mechanic/neighbor advised me to change the seals. $22 for the kit that includes the valve cover. Haven’t done it yet but I assume it’s pretty easy.

Dan Vo says:

Unfortunately the filter on these Outlander can not be serviced. It’s a lifetime filter. The filter is a standard pancake style filter that slides in below the oil pump. In order to replace it, you must remove the transmission from the vehicle, remove all of the front case bolts and knock the front case off with a mallet. Once off, you can simply slide the filter out from below the oil pump. The only reason for this filter to be replaced is if there was an internal failure or catastrophic damage

Your videos have helped me save a bunch of money. Thanks a lot. I have a 2004 Galant with the 2.4L. So these trannies don’t have a filter you can change? I believe I read that somewhere but just wanted to double check.

Excellent job with your videos. Even though the are screenshots, they are very well detailed and show us perfectly how to do it. Keep them coming! I have a 2003 but still watch .
