Hong Dung Poe says:

i’ve heard that replacing the backlight lamp solves this problem at $140. also make sure in the setup menu you manualy adjust the convergence under convergence and see if that simply solves the issue.

Hong Dung Poe says:

make sure #1. that you access the convergence in the setup menu and manualy try and see if that fixes the problem. most old dlp tv’s have this including mitsubishi’s. #2. I’ve also seen it stated simply replacing the backlight lamp fixes this issue and doesnt require 1-2 years at m.i.t. and possibly electrocuting yourself or frying your tv. :).

Sunshine_thenrain says:

Thanks I did this and it did work…..the color has now diminished which isn’t a huge deal. Do you know why it did this? Is there a fix for that? Thanks again for any reply you may give.

I have an old Mitsubishi VS-4541 and it shows stripes or black, or just streaks of color, but if you hit the side with a cane, it often clears up for the rest of the day and plays perfectly. Next day, same prob. What to do??

SixKiller660 says:

Ok guys yhe right way to do this repair is to replace the caps on the cards. If you do NOT want to do that then a 4.7mf 35 V cap is connected across terminal +5 and -11.

Then a .01 cap 50V is connected accross terminals 9 and 7. Polarity on the second cap doesnt matter.

chris jackson says:

What are the Micro/Pico Farad values of the caps and exactly what are you doing on a component level when you place Capacitors in those TERMINALS. The whole Connection is called a “SLOT”. Explain the working concept of a CRT TV ( Basically what a rear Proj is ) on a component level sub-system by sub system. I studied electronics for years to have Yahoo’s like this post a sloppy irresponsible repair. People stay out oft the back of ANY TV (Even LCD/Plasma) if you don’t want to be electrocuted.

chris jackson says:

The guy doesn’t appear to have any training in Electronics or legitimate TV repair. It’s video’s like this that get people who have no business opening up the back of a TV HURT. WHY ? There are 3 CRT”s in most projection TV with a Flyback Transformer that supplies up to 35,000 volts to the Anodes and Power supply Filtering Capacitors THAT WILL STOP YOUR HEART !!

There are approved methods of safely discharging both caps and shorting Anodes to Ground for Safety with the TV off. .

Darn, I just can’t see a thing….too DARK to see…

stoptheliesaz says:

What is frustrating is what one has to go through to post a comment on youtube. That said I would like to say, PLEASE reshoot this if you have a better camera and maybe a friend to help. This seems like an excellent video but it is very hard to see. Maybe we could create you a blog…..

Reaper9789 says:

you could try cleaning the lenses on the projectors and the mirror on the back
