Air Conditioner Blows Hot Air fix on Mitsubishi Endeavor 2004 only DIY

This D.I.Y. video only applies to Mitsubishi Endeavor 2004.

During long highway driving, about 1-2 hours, 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor’s air conditioner loses its cooling ability. It will regain back its cooling ability only after the AC is turned off for about 20-30 minutes. This may be caused by ice formation on the evaporator which might be due to an incorrect thermistor signal voltage sent to the AC controller to let of the compressor cycle properly.

My DIY solution is to get a 330-ohms 1-ampere resistor and put it in series with the output signal wire of the thermistor to lower the voltage output and cause the AC controller cycle the compressor more often. In my case, I put three ”100 ohm 1 ampere” resistor in series because the 330 ohm resistor was not readily available in my local electronic store at that time.

This video was made for entertainment only. If you follow the procedures that I did on your vehicle, do it at your own risk and I disclaim any and all liabilities for damages, losses, or injuries that you may incur in connection with your repairs.

This is an interactive video. Pause it if you want to read the annotations. This was also designed to be a ‘Hearing Impaired’ friendly video.

Thankyou for your video. I have taken my to a mechanic. He supposedly put in a new compressor. My air was blowing ice cold now is blowing hot again. It took about a week and a half before it started blowing hot. And the green a.c. light is flashing. Also the air is blowing colder on the far drivers side vent than any other vents. Could this be the same problem.

is that display panel active climate control? I have a 2004 Endeavor, I do not have that in mine, and I need to replace my wiring harness on the blower and possibly the transistor or resistor, depending on if I have active climate control or not.

I've actually had this happen to mine before the A/C went out. Once I get my A/C fixed, I'll have to do this fix too. Thanks again for another helpful video! 🙂

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Endeavor and wanted to know if you would know what it means when the a/c control knob doesn't highlight blue anymore, it only highlights green when you push on the control knob….it use to have the option of pushing the knob on and it lights up either blue or green?
