@ArcolaBridge Well in the video i had ebc brakes which are probably fine
but i soon after switched to hawk brake pads and i love them. i did a flush
and refill of my brake fluid also. so new brake fluid front brembo slotted
rotors and hawk i think s brake pads. my breaking is wonderful i notice the
braking is slightly better than oem and changing the brake fluid helps
pedal feel eventually I will do rear disc conversion with discs all around

Seymour Butz says:

wait a minute did you get rid of the anti rust agent on the rotors?
manufacturers put a chemical to keep the rotors from rusting natural when
they store them. you should have just tried putting a brake piston
lubricant on so which helps contact with the brake piston to your brake
pads so it doesn’t squeak. also i don’t know how i got to this video…

bigwalt293 says:

Love the video. I need to do the same with mine. Are you going to make a
video for the rear calibers?

dcitmf says:

@ArcolaBridge I agree I think i mentioned this though in one of the two
videos,i did the brake cleaner but did not want to risk brushing the
surface of the disc so I let the brake bed-in process do that for me. I
could lubricate the back also, but I have never had a problem with my
brakes fusing to the hub like my fiance’s car does. I did brush the hub
with a copper brush to remove old rust. Thanks for watching and posting

dcitmf says:

@DB7Volante It depends, the V6 models have rear disks, but I have the 4 cyl
which comes with rear drums

dcitmf says:

@cowdon913 I do not know what you are talking about.do you think it was the
shims that they sent with it. usually the shims go on the outside of pads
that contact the caliper NOT the brake rotors. Am I referring to the
correct thing?

NameIsNotWrittenHere says:

Isn’t he installing them wrong? Looks like the right rotor goes on the left
and left goes on the right.

THRILLA98 says:

hey im doin a brake job on a friends galant. Is the caliper a turn in style
or can I use a c-clap to push it back in??

DB7Volante says:

Good bideo. Does the Galant come with 4 wheel disks, or just two wheel? I’d
be getting an ES…

dcitmf says:

@21min56secs You could be correct. But, before I started I researched
through two manuals, the auto zone manual, and the all data/com manual and
they said that the lubricant is for shipping. they all recommended cleaning
the surface of the rotors I think it’s because the lubricant will mess up
the coefficient of friction between the rotors and the brakes. Also, the
brakes work to reface the rotor when they are used so rust does not have a
chance to get on the face of the rotor.

DB7Volante says:

@dcitmf Good to know. I’d prefer the V6, but insurance and gas prices might
force me to get the 4 cyl. That wouldn’t be a big deal, I know how to
service drum brakes. It’s just a pain. And disks are so quick and easy. Oh
well, either way, thanks. you answered my question, and if all goes well,
I’ll have my own Galant shortly after the end of summer.

Donald Rajkumar says:

@dcitmf I recently did my brakes for my 2003, which has the same set up,
but when I bought the hardware kit for the brakes, it came with the main
part for the pads, but was there a little piece that was in the caliper
too? please write back if i did not make myself clear.

ArcolaBridge says:

When you install rotors your need to spray them liberally with brake
cleaner and scrub them with a wire brush or steel wool just to break off
the anti rust and create a fresh surface so the pad can break it in. ALSO,
you lubricate the back and side of the pad with high temperature silicone
lube. That will prevent any squealing. Also, drain and refill your break
fluid, it’s easy…

got a question that has nothing to do with video ive been trying for about
20 min to get this screw off the bac of my blower motor theres only about a
inch or so of space any ideas

dcitmf says:

@Josh Haughton glad it could help you, that’s why I made the video.

Osiris32376 says:

Very helpful video. I have a 00′ galant as well. The only thing is the
music at times drowned your voice out.

ArcolaBridge says:

@dcitmf Ceramic pads right? How is your break setup over the stock setup?

Donald Rajkumar says:

intrepidsquatter says:

thanks for the video. it was really helpful i tried changing my breaks
before and couldn’t get the disc off. i didn’t want to break anything so i
put it all back together and searched out your you tube video. now i know
to use a screw in that hole to push it off, and that the old one is just
rusted off. Your video was awesome

Co614Oh says:

i have a mitsubishi galant and my wheel wont come off ! so im in need of a
rotor job i kno it thanks for the vid. any suggestions or tips on how to
get it off fairly easy without a blow torch?

dcitmf says:

@21min56secs If i remember correctly I got mine from streetsideauto’s
website but that’s b/c they are in Kansas city area i was in Lawrence at
the time. But, go to Brembo site find part number and put it in a search
engine with the word price behind the part number.

cliff kessinger says:

hey man thanks for the video.. i have a 2003 galant show car and have to
replace the rotors i was wondering how to get them off.. thank you very much

Seymour Butz says:

@dcitmf where did you get the rotors from? also it would never get rust on
the rotors when they’re in use. its when they’re being stored or shipped
like you said

greatestle says:

you littered at 2.25 thats against the law lol

dcitmf says:

@THRILLA98 you can use a c clamp, I do make sure to open the brake fluid
reservoir first, that should help the pressure, if you have a block a wood
that not terribly long you can push the caliper boot in enough to put in
the block of wood so you do not scratch the inside surface of the boot. but
either way take your time on the first one and then u can do the second
with your eyes closed
