Yessir, it is… there IS a good reason behind the arm/leg charge you know.
About a quarter to half of that is within the entire LCA complete assembly
(runs like $200-300; the OEM unit IIRC is like ~$450). So because of this
and the fact that OEM isn’t readily available on Amazon I ordered the Moog
unit. Both units seem to work well and hold up even after heavy loads…

very inspiratoinal especially when the mechanics charging a arm and leg,,,,,

Additionally you could also look up a metric to standard conversion chart
to find which sockets you’d need…

It’s gonna be mostly trial and error. Fair warning, I’d keep anything and
everything from 13/16 to about 1.5″ locked and loaded.

Can you do this job with standard tools? I don’t really have metric tools,
I mostly have standard tools.

How about just replacing the lower ball joint by itself. Is that possible?

adventureoflinkmk2 says:

Exactly. it may cost more to get a new control arm, but the time savings is
awesome. šŸ™‚

adventureoflinkmk2 says:

I’m sure it’s possible, you will need a ball joint extractor/press in order
to get it done tho. Additionally you may as well service the bushings…
since new control arms come with these pre-installed anyway and a feeling
of freshness, it saves you time installing it.

Truthman120 says:

You need a special tool to do it that way. The easiest way is to replace
the whole control arm, with the ball joint already installed.
