Exactly what I needed! I’ve got the same mercury tool and noticed that it
would be easier to buy weapons grade plutonium than a little dropper of
mercury.

Yes. This procedure is to be done while the carb sync is hooked up to the
engine with engine running. While performing a carb synchronization, the
mercury columns will develop air bubbles. This procedure is done whenever
the bubbles appear.
