@Spanishvatos4life i used an electic impact to break mine free, not really
sure what you could use to keep it from turning.

Daniel M. says:

please, tell how the hell did you get the y-pipe off,, I have tried twice
on my 96 sable,, the back y-pipe impossible to get to !!!

Nicholas Daw says:

Got a similar 2000 Taurus. Just asking best way to get off y pipe to get to
oil pan

Samuel Olson says:

Hello! I am currently trying to remove the harmonic balancer. I already
have the bolt out and I am using a puller like yours to remove the harmonic
balancer but I’m having trouble figuring out how to stop the engine from
turning over… any suggestions?

smiatacz says:

It wasent very hard to get off at all with the electric impact, not sure
about a code

sixfoursoul1 says:

you can do it it just very hard.. you need a 15 mill socket wrench and my
have to to remove things around it.. you my shed some skin but it can be
done

Nicholas Daw says:

Also does the timing cover need to be removed as you did or just the y pipe?

smiatacz says:

@ToTo05 Well pretty much everything I did at this point in the video series
and the pan is clear and free to drop out from under the car, you just
would not need to take apart anything on the top half of the motor. Any
more question just feel free to ask. Thanks for watching.

smiatacz says:

@ushouldntjudgeme The damper bolt is regular threads and I used a electric
impact gun to remove it. Thanks for watching.

smiatacz says:

@ToTo05 Around 6 bolts, I unbolted the front and rear of the y pipe from
the manifold, unplugged the two wire harness and unbolted the y pipe at the
catalytic converter. The front manifold bolts i got to from under the car
and the rear manifold bolts were hard to get to but i got them from the top
of the car.

ushouldntjudgeme says:

@smiatacz Yep, a couple of bursts with the impact trigger and it was off in
a jiffy, I didn’t pull the oil pan yet, and got the timing case off with
the water pump still attached ( as I just installed a new one and still had
the leak) I turned the timing cover upside down and it came out the wheel
well. My “Y” pipe is still on the engine and I’m not planning to do the oil
pan gasket even thought I picked one up at Advance Auto Parts. Thanks for
your video, it helps a lot!

ACE1963 says:

Thanks, your videos helped alot….

ToTo05 says:

How did you remove the Y pipe? That’s the one that goes from the front of
the car, under the oil pan and to the exhaust pipe, right?

james fagan says:

On a 2001 taurus u code is the bolt for the harmonic balancer right hand or
left hand threads, how hard is to take off with the puller?

ToTo05 says:

How did you remove the oil pan? That’s all I need done is to replace the
gasket and I can’t seem to find the help i need. 🙁

Spanishvatos4life says:

ushouldntjudgeme says:

Hello, does the big bolt for the vibration damper come off with regular or
reverse threads? Did you use an impact gun or other method to remove that
bolt? Same exact coolant leak….’01 3.0L Taurus
