Yep, in this segment I start to fix the damage that was done during the move.

ooftaZone says:

We have few windmills running in Minnesota too. Bunch running in farm lands
off of I90. Have some in most hick area possible that are just test models.
Could be part of the build it and they will come theroy too. We got power
for ya, now come out here and build.

sfmodeller says:

Apparently lots of bats die around windmills, too. (Heard this on the news
last week.) And most of them die without getting hit – the change in
pressure around the mill gives them “baro-trauma”, internal damage similar
to “the bends” in us.

Burny GT says:

Come to Germany, these damn Windmills are ruining every landscape here to
make up for abandoning Atomic power. It is really annoying.

Steezy says:

Those fibers look awesome, the timing is perfect on the runway.

badgrendels says:

My big complaint is that these are three hundred miles from anything. It
just doesn’t make any sense. With nuclear the cost is so cheap that a two
hundred mile transmission loss would mean nothing. But wind power is not
that cheap. It cost quite a bit more per kilowatt than does Nuclear.

badgrendels says:

A cityscape like that would take me forever!!! But I have thought about
doing one like that for Godzilla or Gamera. I should be able to get to the
landscaping this weekend. The C-130 and the oil tank will be done on
Saturday as well as a few other things. I did the road markings last
weekend and they need a bit of touch up work to be done.

badgrendels says:

Yeah they are pretty ugly….

SamuraiGeekDesigns says:

Lookin’ good, John

atomicdog32 says:

That is looking really awesome bro!!! I’m loving it! Keep going. Hey el
paso! Gonna see some Texas mountains?? Lol.

Rob BasicModelling says:

You’re a bright light in the world of modelling πŸ™‚ Grass and bushes are
very good for covering up mistakes, but in my case it’s a bit unfortunate
that it will look odd with the afformentioned garments on an aircraft… πŸ˜‰
Otherwise it is a brilliant method indeed.. πŸ™‚ I’d love to see you do a
cityscape with flashing lights and neon signs, you’d make it expertly, I’m
sure!! πŸ™‚ Here in the UK people are moaning like mad about the windmills
blotting the landscape.. personally I don’t think so! πŸ™‚

General Splatton says:

I like that concrete effect you have going. Did you show that on an earlier
vid? I don’t remember it, if you did. 750 miles is a long haul.

badgrendels says:

LOL! Yep I put plastic card down for the roads. That was in an earlier
video. Now that area around the oil tank got painted up last weekend, it no
longer looks that way. I will probably speckle it up some to give it a
contrast. I am going to do some weathering of the roads this weekend. They
are too fresh looking.

badgrendels says:

You know, it wouldn’t surprise me, but if I were to make an underground
base, it would not be powered by windmills…..

centaur1a says:

Your Mercury 9 diorama is looking great! On the windmills, they do generate
lots of power for the cities. The reason they built it so far is because of
safety. You don’t want to see someone get sliced or property too when
something goes wrong. Same thing goes with many cities around the world.
Environment protection is the key thing when anything is proposed to be
built. Anywhere.

spawn dude says:

Badgrendals, Take a look at this old “1960’s marx american airlines
airport” on that famous auction site.

badgrendels says:

LOL! Those windmills are in the middle of no where and they don’t have any
transmission towers leading away from them……..

badgrendels says:

Didn’t know that one, just another reason to not like them.

The Real Mythril says:

That looked a painful little change of plan on the tarmac. But in the end,
that’ how we learn. Personally I don’t have a big issue with the wind
turbines, for a reason that you highlighted. You have to have nuclear power
plant miles away from anything, where you can choose the windiest sites
possible for a wind farm ,wherever that may be. In Scotland most of our
landscape is mountainous and the only flat areas are highly populated,
therefor, power plants end up near populated areas.

General Splatton says:

Yuo put card stock over the concrete parts to make the roads, it looks
like. An example, around where the water tank is, that looks really good.

primativemodelling says:

You’ll have that base looking great ..I have total faith in you buddy. We
have loads of wind turbines here too..people are always saying they are an
eyesore and question if they are worth the money they cost to erect..no
answers to my knowledge…but I have never ever seen so many as in this
vid..gotta wonder eh John ?

BluTrilobite says:

Oh, then they’re art pieces….to sassy up the Texas hinterlands! ^_^

spacemouse1 says:

Maybe the Windmills are being used to power underground hidden military
bases ???

BluTrilobite says:

I have a sneaking suspicion those windmills are generating power for DUMBS
(Deep Underground Military Bases), it’s a possibility. Keep up the fine
work on the rocket base diorama!

badgrendels says:

Never heard of it…..But not surprised that something better is out
there….

badgrendels says:

LOL! And I did see them..

BluTrilobite says:

Well…it’s just a theory!

badgrendels says:

Thanks, I think they are plenty ugly those windmills.

Doctor Cranky's Lab-RAT-ory says:

Looking fabulous. I can’t wait to see it complete. We had lots of these
windmills in the desert near Palm Springs.

badgrendels says:

This one sure made me wonder. 300 miles out in the middle of no where is
sure a strange place for them.

badgrendels says:

Could be. I know that they are turning up everywhere. I see parts for them
moving down the highway weekly.

3engineRBO says:

The Minicraft MB150 Hobby drill with the Minicraft Variable Speed
Transformer will run slow enough not to melt plastic. The best tool I own
in my “arsenal”. I believe Proxxon now makes these, but with the Proxxon
name on them.

badgrendels says:

Thanks! Another one on the Windmills: Birds. Here in the US if a bird is
killed by an oil company, they are fined pretty heavily. But if a windmill
kills a bird, nothing happens. That right there upsets me. Both should be
treated equally. I do agree that they are out of town for safety reasons,
but on my last vacation, they were not that far out of town, easily seen
from the hotel window….

badgrendels says:

Thanks! and DUMBS base powered by windmill would be very, very DUMB.

badgrendels says:

A quick question: Concrete effect, on the command center? Or the roads. I
know I did with the command center, but not the roads. I just air brushed
out some Tamiya dark grey for the roads.
