Make sure warm water is coming out from the end of the prop at least before
leaving the engine running for 10 mins.otherwise you may overheat your
engine. It should only take a couple of mins for water to start flowing
through thermostats otherwise you need to fix the impeller in the water
pump on the gearbox. 4 nuts to remove gearbox then drop the gearbox off,
waterpump is around the drive shaft area on the gearbox.

Top tip mate! For a 80’s boat motor, I’d imagine that would have been
rebuilt a few times 🙂 My old used to be a skipper on a trawler, he
replaces the motor on his boat every couple of years… Getting stuck on
the open seas is definitely not fun
