TheMilwaukeemark says:

The first time I tried I accidentally deleted the original recovery from
the phone before I installed the custom recovery and it blue screened the
phone. I yanked battery out and restarted the phone and it was fine. The
trouble was that I copied the recovery to my desktop it kept renaming
them”recovery (1) and recovery (2). So I renamed the original recovery
recovery (1). I named the custom recovery “recovery”. After all of that I
installed it following your instructions step. Now what?

TheBronyWaffleZero says:

Francisco Herrera says:

Simple Instructions: 1. Download both the “recovery” and “FastRoot.v3” file
onto your computer 2. Get the “FastRoot.v3” file into your phone through
normal USB usage. 3. If 2 is done, then after doing so, disconnect your
phone from any USB cable. 3. Shut your phone off through your phone’s menu.
4. Turn it back on by first holding both the Volume + and – button and then
push and hold the Power button while still holding and pushing the other
two. 5. Then the Pink Screen comes up. 6. Watch video.

HOW LONG DO I HOLD VOLUME AND POWER BUTTON BEFORE IT TURNS PINK? BC MINE
WONT TURN PINK AT ALL

FEHKINGS says:

Now sure whats running on my Mercury, says version 2.3.6 and is the little
circle lock screen not the one you have, not sure if that helps but will
this method work on mine?

bigdasu83 says:

you press volume up and volume down and hold first then hold the power
button down as well (all three at the same time) until the phone turns
pink. if you are not able to put into download mode then turn off fast boot
in settings under applications its not allowing your phone to turn off
completely if on

Adam Jones says:

i kno this is a crazy question but im new to rooting ..so what is the root

computer’s screen that says custom recovery image

Roman Babushkin says:

Thanks!

bigdasu83 says:

Then download the fast root file put it on the root of your SD card (not in
any folder) so its there when you select install zip from SD in the
recovery screen

bigdasu83 says:

Must be your computer options

bigdasu83 says:

It works you and a select few have problems following simple directions.
There is no way to install custom recovery to root without a computer. Only
other root method is to use linux terminal to push the files to the phone.

bigdasu83 says:

You bricked your phone which means you probably deleted the image folder
and tried replacing it with the recovery.img file instead of opening the
folder and replacing the file named recovery

james baird says:

it wont unless you download a custom rom and wipe the phone. it’s optional
either way. use ROM Manager, from the market.. best way to do it.

Joseph Trevino says:

Does it delete all your apps or do you keep your apps????

Candice Gardner says:

Oh ok, thanks again!

Halid K says:
