No problem, I re wired mine but it went out again so I have yet to fix it
100% still 🙂 I should’ve done it right the first time! But I was in a
hurry, excited. Be careful putting It back in, I cracked a female
connection one of the 4 clips goes into, and in order to replace it you
need to drop the headliner
Ok I will take note of that. I figured the female ends could be fragile
upon reinstall of the console. I’ve also read that the removal of the
console requires placing a hand to brace the headliner ( or even a forearm
) when you pull on the rear section of the console. A friend of mine has
several working units to R&R the compass with one that lights up. 
I can’t thank you enough for making this video. I have the exact same short
length overhead console on my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria LX. Tonight the
electronic digital compass failed to light up. And I didn’t know how to
remove the assembly. Which two additional screws do I need to remove? Just
pull out the single screw I can see. Pull hard as hell. Then? I’ll have to
search the pick a part yards for a replacement compass. Thanks again. !!!!!
