Renee LittleBear says:

i have a 1997 mercury mountaineer: my problem is the rear hatch handle is
broken it should b able to turn one way to open the hatch window n the
other way turned opens the whole door. it just spins freely round n round.
how to fix???

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to take the door panel off to see if there’s an issue with
anything that could be connecting to it.

hi i have 2002 mountaineer and im having truble with my lift gate. my
lights and door locks keep turning on and off because the truck is telling

TheLtgb says:

Mike – I need to replace the tailgate actuator on my 2001 Jeep Grand
Cherokee. Is the process substantially different than the one posted here?
Any tips? Thanks

1A Auto Parts says:

If you go to the dealer they should be able to get you a new clip to repair
the door panel.

1A Auto Parts says:

@scott93257 You may have to remove the tailgate door panel with the
tailgate closed to be able to access the rod inside of the tailgate. Once
you take the door panel off you should be able to pull the rod that opens
the tailgate so that you can fix the issue.

and for 97 blazer thanks friend

mibambino2007 says:

Is it the same process for a 2000 ford expedition?

1A Auto Parts says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video of that particular repair.

1A Auto Parts says:

You will have to get some sort of slim jim down there to release the rods
on either side of the vehicles that control the latch mechanism.

1A Auto Parts says:

@TheLtgb The basics on what you need to do should be similar, such as you
would need to remove the door panel, unbolt the actuator from inside of the
tailgate and disconnect it from the locking mechanism.

Gina Gee says:

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer. I can open the window but I cant open the rear
door. There is no pressure on the handle whether it is in lock or open
position. Do you know what the problem might be?

richard boatright says:

hello all i have a 2000 ford explorer that has a filtgate that wont open at
all. the liftgate glass opens fine. the gate handel moves freely. so i cant
open the gate at all. my question i have is, how can i open the gate . so i
can get the inside cover off to get to the inside’s of the gate. or can i
take the cover off from the inside with no problems, with the liftgate
closed?

1A Auto Parts says:

@19743412 At the current time we do not have an auto repair video that
shows this repair on this particular vehicle. We’ll keep this in mind when
doing future repairs on this vehicle.

Walter Alcox says:

How do you get the tailgate open when the latch doesn’t work with the
manuel or actuator ?

FlakeBoss says:

@scott93257 there is a cable in there about 8 inches and it attaches to the
outside liftgate handle. this cable probably broke and you might have to
take off the liftgate interior trim pieces with the liftgate shut…I just
did this on a 2004 Expedition XLT

my909daniel says:

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer, I pulled too hard on the tailgate handle on
broke it. I don’t know how to properly remove the broken piece. do you have
any video on how to replace it? thank you

1A Auto Parts says:

It sounds like the rod inside the door may have come off of the door
handle. You may need to take to door panel off to see what has broke inside
of the door.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to see if there’s power to the window switch. If there
is…check to see if there’s power to the window motor too when the switch
is pressed.

hyun woong Park says:

i have ford expedition 2001. i can open the back door however i can’t open
the window only. what can be a problem?

1A Auto Parts says:

@mibambino2007 Yes, same on a 2000 expedition.

hyun woong Park says:

It is manual. Left turn open hetch and right turn suppose to open window.
But it open only hetch not window

Gina Gee says:

Found the problem. Looks like the hole on the handle has a piece broken.
That is why the clip wouldnt go in any further. Thank you for your great
help. Love your videos. Replaced my parents side view mirror on their
Explorer using one of your videos, saved a bunch. Loads of thanks!!

Jason Frink says:

2001 Ford Explorer XLT: was having intermittent trouble with the lift door
not unlocking and yesterday when trying to open it I felt something break
and there was no resistence any more when pulling the handle. Your video
helped me (thanks!) get the panel off and see where the yellow clip
attached to the door handle broke loose from the end of the rod it was
attached to. The clip seems broken or atleast I can’t seem to reclip it.
Maybe I just need a new clip?

Gina Gee says:

Checked it today and the clip was still on the rod but clip came off the
door handle. Now the problem is getting the nipple part of the clip through
the hole of the handle (not easy to get to). Is there any trick to getting
that clip through, or is it done only by forcing it through?
