You can also check the power to the window switch to see if there’s power
going to it, with a test light or a ohm meter. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

If there’s a window regulator cable that’s broke and keeping it from
moving, you may need to loosen the cable so that you can move the glass up
into position. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

can i switch the old motor to new regulator?.

FUGYOO says:

1A. I have a 97 Marquis. Drivers side window won’t ascend or descend, yet I
can hear the motor running inside the door and the window appears to be
bouncing. What approach should I take first?

is the motor. But everything was spot on

Sherry Williams says:

I have begun to replace the window regulator and when I drilled one of the
rivets out of the window the white round plastic piece where the rivet was
located broke. The window is not damaged…I was wondering what that piece
is called and if you carry that part?

51supernova50 . says:

All of the components are okay except the cables, Can you replace the
cables alone or is it just easier and more cost effective to replace the
whole regulator?

peliROJO says:

One of the best How-To videos I’ve seen. Very well done and now there’s one
more working power window in this world.

You can buy it in a spray can at your local auto parts store. If the
weatherstrip is dry it will help your window to glide a lot easier and
faster. Hope this helps you out 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Hello. so about a week ago some people smashed the windows on my 1989 ford
crown Victoria. they completely smashed the front, rear, front right
window, and the back right windows. I’m just wondering approximately how
much would each cost? (not including taking it into a body shop)

1A Auto Parts says:

It could be. You may want to take the door panel off and inspect the window
regulator to see if it’s working properly. Also take a look at the window
motor.

dan0champ says:

If you’re nervous about taking your door panels off don’t be. It is
literally just as easy as this video makes it seem, so thankful for these
tutorials.

Replaced the drivers side window regulator on my 98 Ford Crown Victoria in
1.5 hours with these easy to follow instructions! Used (2) 1/4” – 20 x 1”
round head combo machine screws for the window and 1/4” – 20 x 5/8” round
head combo machine screws for the rest. 1/4” – 20 Nylon Lock Nuts and
1/4” x 1 1/4” Fender Washers secured everything. Lubed up the channels
with spray silicone and lubed up the regulator with white lithium grease.
Thank you 1AAuto for your help!

Thanks a lot great vid.

1A Auto Parts says:

Normally replacing the entire window regulator would be the way to go.
Attempting to just replace the cables can become increasingly time
consuming if you have not done them before as well as sourcing new parts
can be difficult.
