Scott, There are no bulbs in that reflector under the armrest. Must be a
safety idea by Ford for when opening a door along the side of the road at
night. I just finished taking my door panel off (with the help of this
video, thank you!) and there is no electrical cable running to the area
from behind.

98-02 Mercury Grand Marquis. You should be able to access the speakers once
the door panel is off.
