Your Crown Vic Break replacement video really saved my bacon last night. I have a 2007 Crown Vic P71 and was doing my first front break job on it. It was getting dark, time crunch and emergent as I knew I was down to metal. I got the tire off, bolts off but the caliper was getting hung up. I pulled your video up right there on my phone and you had all the answers for me. The rest of the repair went perfectly and now she stops quietly like she’s got slippers on. Thanks again!
Straight to the point video….. thanks!!!

great vid
If supplied new hardware should be used. We carry new brake rotor and pad kits for all kinds of different vehicles on our website 1aauto.com. 888-844-3393
I just threw my pad clips away. The new pads came with new clips. I was told by napa that most pads do come with clips.
i love my crown vic
It shouldnt be to hard. There’s a bolt on the bottom, and it looks like three at the top of the strut to remove. We carry them on our website with free shipping for your vehicle. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Would replacing the front struts on that car be easy?
thanks for your video saved me a bundle great job a1
You should use a C-Clamp to compress the brake caliper like the video shows. Once everything is put back together, you need to pump the brakes up with the pedal, so that the pedal doesn’t go to the floor when you try to stop.
1A, I apologize for being unclear, i did not use a c clamp to move back the pistons. i just pumped the brakes. is this just a technically wrong way to do it or am i wrong for doing so?
Great video 1a, is there any reason you couldnt just pump the breaks after installing the calipers? This is what I did with my mechanic buddy under his advisement. Thanks a lot you’ve got a new subscriber here.
Just replaced the rotors and pads on my Grand Marquis following this video. Worked like a charm. No problems. Thanks for the video.
If you’re replacing just the brake pads and rotors you typically do not need to bleed the brakes, unless the pedal is very soft or hard for some reason.
I usually just use the old brake pad and a c clamp to push the pistons back in.
hey mike what a great job you’ve done online!!!! you’ve helped me so much because i got front brakes and rotors replaced & thought I got screwed because the guy didn’t bleed them, isn’t it a staple when replacing brakes, caliper and rotors? pl email @ felix.kitty@hotmail.com
You do not need to pack them. The bearing and hub are a complete assembly.
does an 04 and up have wheel bearings that you can grease/pack mike? thanks
iam gonna do my brakes toommrow very easy my 95 9c1 caprice was a lil bit harder
The anit-squeal compound will help to keep them quite.
This helped. I had to buy the 18mm socket for this job and it can’t be done without it. Also, for home mechanics doing this without the benefit of a garage lift, you will probably need to turn the wheel so you can get a breaker bar or torque wrench on the end of the wrench when loosening the caliper bracket bolts. They are threadlocked and must’ve been near 100lb torque. My rotor bolts had two lock rings that went over the bolts to hold it in place but I didn’t have any replacements.
Helped me a lot. Thanks!
This is a great video and it’ll help me replace my own brakes – thank you.
Question – isn’t an anti-squeal compound recommended to be applied to the back of the brake pads to prevent squealing? Thanks.
great video!
When I replaced my front rotors on my ’99 Vic I had to remove two gold rivets to even be able to take off the rotor. I was told these rivets do not have to be replaced with anything as they are just there from the factory to hold on the rotor through the assembly line. Just FYI to anyone else that has this same brake set-up. Great videos!
THANX! NOW I CAN DO THIS MYSELF!
