Thanks for the swift response!

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular
repair. You may be able to get a new compressor and hook the AC back up,
that should also get all of the pulleys in line for you. 1aauto.com

Alex W says:

Help! My 00 5.0 v8 mountaineers tensioner doesn’t look like that. The
previous owner installed a bypass pulley to replace the ac compressor and
forgot to add the spacer for the pulley. Now my belts are getting ate up
and walking right off the track. How do I disengage the tensioner on my
merc?

1A Auto Parts says:

They can loose their tension over time. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Josh says:

Would you suggest purchasing a new tensioner pulley, just in case? From
what I have read, they have tendency of breaking.

Jungleritter says:

This was very helpful, thanks for the nicely done video!

1A Auto Parts says:

@carterscustomrods try Sears or your local parts store for a bolt
extraction tool. They work well and are made just for these type of
circumstances.

shmak56 says:

my ford explorer 2000 noisy at starting (look like chain or tnnsioner
problem) also the nois is not continuase ???

1A Auto Parts says:

@Jungleritter You’re welcome thanks for checking us out.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may also want to check the water pump pulley and alternator pulley to
see if any of them are bad. If you take the belt off the alternator spin
the pulley by hand to see if the alternator could be making noise. Hope
this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

jblast8 says:

Thanks for the video. I’ve been experiencing a lot of squeaking in my 95
ranger xlt. I’ll see if I can’t try this out.

dbytor says:

I installed tensioner and new belt without a hitch, but when I turn at a
low speed the steering shakes wildly. I put the old belt back on ,but still
shook. I had now previous steering problems, just a broke tensioner. Is
this a bad pulley, air in lines, ???Thanks for your help.

1A Auto Parts says:

If you need a new alternator bracket you may want to check your local
salvage yard to see if they have one.

ugotink2 says:

thank you very much!no mechanical ability whatsoever and this walked me
right through it.much appreciated

eschmec says:

cesar altamirano says:

hi… hey can you do a video about how to change the tensioner in a nissan
altima 2003 please because there is not a video about how to do it so
please can you do one i will appreciated

Airkilla09 says:

@dbytor Check to see that you have applied proper tension with the
tensioner. After you put on the belt, make sure you return the tensioner to
its set position (you should feel a click, there is a little groove meant
to catch a “nut” on th tensioner and snap into place. You probably have a
very loose belt during turns for this reason.

1A Auto Parts says:

@karlaguss2795 You should be able to follow the steps in this video. The
belt tensioner will need to be raised and then placed onto the new belt.
Hope this helps you out.

the best boy says:

Hey brother I have the same problem with my ford explorer, I changed that
pulley but always remains with the noisy!

1A Auto Parts says:

@zoughbi At the current time we do not.

MapleBalls says:

& again… thanks.

1A Auto Parts says:

You don’t, however when working around the engine it’s never a bad idea to
disconnect the battery.

seankeyz1984 says:

I get a battery life every time I accelerate what could possibly be that
problem please help I change my battery and the same problem is happening

vincenttetuaniii says:

I have the same problem. All I see is a spring. Do I have to worry about a
timing issue?

1A Auto Parts says:

@MrFRO4484 We do offer an AC bypass pulley that will retain your stock belt
but will enable you to delete the AC
system.1aauto.com/1A/ACBypassPulley/Ford/Explorer/-/-/2001

karlaguss2795 says:

I have a 1997 for explorer I need help the belt snapped off so I’m trying
to fit the other one on but it doesn’t fit…do I have to loosen something
up?..So It can fit its a 97 ford explorer v8 5.0.

Daniel Smith says:

@1aauto thanks nice vid

1A Auto Parts says:

@fastvpbt1 It sounds as though the belt tensioner is worn and needs to be
replaced. The belt sqeaks because there isn’t enough tension on it.

1A Auto Parts says:

@dbytor I would check all of your suspension components such as tie rod
ends, ball joints and the stabilizer links.Since any of these can cause the
issue that you are describing.

Ethan Miller says:

I see the title, but does this work for a 2002 ford ranger? Thanks

cjcool19751 says:

thank, i did my car today and it took me less than 10 minutes………..

1A Auto Parts says:

@PISTACHO305 We currently do not have a auto repair video that shows this
particular repair. However if you remove the tension from the belt, there
should be 2-3 bolts that hold it in place. Hope this helps you out.

Segagirl Sega says:

Thank you so much, I am going to attempt to change the belt with my son.
The dealer quoted us around 150 but by the looks of it we might be able to
do it
