can someone please tell me how to do this on a 2001 Nissan Frontier.
There’s this weird plastic piece attached to the assembly that I have never
seen from other pumps I’ve changed. It’s really damn huge and i cant
understand how someone fit it into the tank in the first place.

Greetings! Firstly I really appreciate that Airtex puts up these sorts of
videos as it was an invaluable aid in getting my fuel pump fitted and in.

I do have a problem though. I’ve partially reinstalled my fuel tank and
wanted to test to make sure everything was copacetic. Where I used to have
no pressure in the fuel rail I now have pressure. However, the car will
start and then crap out after only a few moments of running rough.

Neither the filler neck nor the vapor line to the filler neck have been
reinstalled, and the tank registers ~60mi to empty.

I’m running a 1999 Lincoln Town Car and your site says the pump should be
perfectly fine for my needs. I suspect that if I were to fully reinstall
the tank and button everything up nice and tight there would be some
negative pressure in the tank to assist in building pressure in the rail
and allow the engine to run continuously. I simply wanted to test to see
that everything was fine before that.

I really just need an expert’s opinion on if that is necessary or if there
is likely some other problem.

Previously the car would not start — no fuel pressure. Strainer and
Filter were replaced at the same time as the fuel pump.

Am I doing just fine, or is there another problem?

Airtex Pumps says:

Hello, I’m assuming your’re talking about the hose that connects the fuel
pump to the hanger? If so, this hose is included in the replacement fuel
pump kit. If you need this separately you can purchase it from any auto
parts store. Ask for fuel injection hose in the correct size (this one is
5/16″) with an SAE rating of R9 or R10. (This will be listed on the side of
the hose). Hope this helps you. Thanks for watching.

Looks like I might be in the market for a new fuel pump. Heard great things
about Airtex Wells from watching EricTheCarGuy videos. Hopefully I’m
looking at getting the E2471 for my Mazda 626 thanks to your easy to use
website and parts lookup. Great video!

I plan on getting it from RockAuto and will make an install video for my
fellow Mazda 626 owners as always. I can see why ETCG has so many great
things to say about Airtex. Your videos alone are amazing. Had no idea
there were so many. It’s going to take me a week to watch all of them. 🙂
The voltage testing video was awesome. Love your testing equipment too
soooooo cool.
