Alectra Ossh says:

ur a moron! the cmos is cleared the second you short those connections…
if you can’t find the jumpers just pull the power out and pull the battery
out.. then wait 10 seconds and put the battery back in.. only a moron would
do a 10 minute video on something so stupid..

Thanks man! My display won’t kick on but everything on and connected
internally to the board is. I am getting a new battery. The computer I’m
using is an Asus CG1330 and it was in storage for about 9 months. It’s safe
to assume the CMOS battery is dead. You just confirmed my assumption. Gonna
subscribe for that. lol

Would you recommend replacing the battery in a 7 year old computer? It
still functions well but it would be bad if it suddenly stopped working one
day.

I accidentally selected default settings (F5) in BIOS and when my computer
goes to boot it gets to the Windows screen but then restarts itself over
and over. So it never fully boots the OS and gets to the desktop. Is there
anything I can do? I don’t know what the BIOS settings were before I
accidentally selected default settings. Whatever it changed-it’s not
allowing the system to fully boot now. It was working prior to that.
Thanks!

Nightphoenix73 says:

what if i did this and the computer still only turns on for a sec and turns
off

So fo all motherboards need to have a jumper always inserted into one of
the cmos settings? Because my motherboard didn’t come with one attached,
but I have two settings, ‘ keep data’ and ‘clear data’.
So should I always have a jumper on ‘keep data’ event when my pc is
running?

Your video and instructions are great but i still have trouble with my
computer. I build my own computer with all new parts. But the mother board
is for 2 years ago and never used : Intel DZ77SL-50K. When i turn on my
computer , i have the Intel spash screen with ” push F2,F7,F10 ” but when i
push F2 for exemple , nothing happen… Pushing any keyboard key = nothing
happen … Do you think that because the battery didnt run during long time
and is dead ? ( mother board was 2 years on the box without running but is
new ) . Thanks !

So you put the little thing on and turn on the power and then wait a
little, then turn off the power and take the little thing off again and
then it should maybe work? idk if I understood it right :P? (for intel)

My comp freezes at random times. I am forced to restart the comp. If I hit
the reset button on my motherboard, would it fix the problem? If been
thinking about but don’t know the outcome.
