Try rebooting the car by disconnecting the car’s battery for about 15-20 minutes and then try the programming again. Sometimes this will work to help get the car into programming mode. You can also take the remote to a local auto parts store where they can check the signal to see if it is working.

richardv7y says:

carandtruckremotes says:

The 1997 Grand Marquis requires a different set of instructions. Unfortunately, we do not have a video for that available at this time.

daman2u says:

Thanks for the info, but I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. I just received the key with the remote after buying the car a year ago. I replaced the battery in the FOB and tried these steps but it didn’t work. Am I doing something wrong or is this vehicle to old for a car remote Key FOB?

carandtruckremotes says:

No, unfortunately those are not compatible.

Can you program a 2010 key/remote to a 2002 mustang??

carandtruckremotes says:

Yes, this programming procedure should work for the 2002 Focus as well.

FGryphusone says:

Does it also works for 2002 Ford Focus SE? thx

carandtruckremotes says:

Great, glad to help. Please like our Facebook page.

RaceAndsk8 says:

Perfect instruction. I used a remote from a 2002 Focus on my 2003 Mustang GT. Worked perfect. Thanks.

carandtruckremotes says:

We have a video that shows how to replace the battery in your remote. Search for: How to Replace Batteries for Car Remotes Keyfobs
If you replace the battery you do not have to reprogram. If it does not work make sure the battery is not upside down. If still not working, the remote may be broken. If you reprogram the remote, be sure to have both there at the same time. Once you hit the lock button on the first remote and the car responds, simply hit lock on the 2nd remote and both will sync.

carandtruckremotes says:

Yes, these instructions will work for your Taurus.

baloy92 says:

i recently purchased a used 1999 grand marquis. the keyless entry pad on the driver side door has 2 keys that do not function. the 3/4 and 5/6 buttons do not work. could this be a fuse that needs to be replaced? if i get a replacement keypad will i need a new code to enter my car?

MrRedcash says:

I have a 99 Taurus SHO will the procedure work on my car. Thx

richk3c says:

I have two key fobs for a 98 Mercury Mountaineer. The one fob I’ve been using quit working (battery?) and so I’ve been using the 2nd fob only. Is it true that if I replace the battery then the fob has to be reprogrammed? And, if I have to reprogram the first fob (the one with the replaced battery) I have to reprogram the 2nd one as well? Btw, how does one replace the battery on these key fobs anyway because they are sealed? Thanks much in advance.

carandtruckremotes says:

Try rebooting your car battery by disconnecting it for about 15 mins, then retry the programming from the beginning. This might solve the problem.

carandtruckremotes says:

Make sure you are ending in the ON position before you push buttons on the remote.
