Joe Clifford says:

Besides the door open light, the open door bell kept chimming, then the
interior lights would come on and off. Quite annoying and got worse as the
days passed by. I viewed your video and reached for some Dupont Teflon
multi-use dry wax lubricant and after spraying inside and around the door
latch no more alert or chime. It’s been quite now for the past three days.
Thanks so much!

Joseph Velky says:

I sprayed 4 times into the passenger side door and opened and slammed the
door 5 times fast. Wasnt until I shut the door with considerable force that
it dislodged.

Joseph Velky says:

OMG…Thank You…trying to sell my truck and that did the trick. They were
using it for a 200 decrease.

DeWayne R. says:

This problem just took over my life this weekend! I tried WD40 and am still
having the problem. The worst part is trying to figure out WHICH door is
having the issue.

DAGOLDNBOY says:

WORKED LIKE A CHARM !!!! … THANKS …

Chris p says:

me2 – ive had the issue for over a year now and it had been previously
fixed at the dealership but ofcourse they didn’t tell me this little trick
– wasn’t worth paying to fix – I just came inside and BOOM it worked!!! wow

Worked for me! That light and chime were driving me nuts. All I had on hand
was Windex, and it worked fine. Thanks from Michigan.

poopschloppe says:

Great! Thank you for posting this. I have the same problem with my (2003
Ford Expedition). I looked all over for the sensor and had no idea it was
built into the lock mechanism. Thanks again!

Ramses Leroi Bulatao says:

It worked for my Ford Taurus 2000, too! I thank you, @Autotechviewpoint!

Thank you so much for the tip on spraying cleaner into the door lock
mechanism

Saleen50SP says:

LA, CALIFORNIA It worked great for my 2003 Navigator. The running boards
would stay in the open position because the truck thought the door was
open. Used WD40 and fixed the problem. Thanks for the tip.

lakestatefishing says:

2003 Expedition. Sprayed all the locks with a half can of WD40 three days
ago. Tonight the light went off and my interior lights/auto locks work
correctly now. Thanks for the tip!

Autotechviewpoint says:

That sucks, sorry to hear that but ya gotta try, just in case!

T. East. says:

Again… Thank you…. WD-40 worked like a charm for me. Spend hundreds on
replacing the sensor…. and bought a $2 can of lube and fixed my problem
instantly.

Humberto Cristobal says:

You don’t understand how happy I am I had just purchased the SUV and the
interior lights were annoying and it not being able to lock right but now
its good as new no annoying light

Marco Gomez says:

NO Way!!! I’m trying this today i’ll get back to you

Saracen6969 says:

Wife came home with the “door ajar” message and interior lights on and
wasn’t looking forward to take it to the dealer to be fixed. Found this
video, went out and sprayed WD40 and within a minute, problem fixed! Thanks
much sir!

nixjag1 says:

Another satisfied customer. I was in the process removing the door panel on
my ’98 Ranger when I realized I didn’t have a star bit for the window
crank. So I wanted to try a different tactic and ran across your tip. A
basic house cleaner did the job on this 15 year old, 175,000 mile trck.
Thank you.

snowdropangel77 says:

Thanks very helpful 🙂

Chris Knight says:

You sir are a Genius! Weeks of problems, days of pouring through
forums..You nailed it. This also solved the dreaded alarm in the middle of
the night problem as the factory alarm uses the door sensors as well. Wind
was setting the sticking switch off. THANKS!

Vlad Diaz says:

Wow! It actually worked! Thanks for the tip. I’ve having this problem for
quite sometime.

Autotechviewpoint says:

@hp11208 Sure or PB Blaster, everyone has their favorite that they swear
by… 🙂

David Poole says:

Thank You!!!

Autotechviewpoint says:

could possibly for cleaning purposes, but a lube would still be better, let
us know.

Bob C says:

Thanks for the video

Edgar Torres says:

iPointiShoot says:

worked for me with WD 40. My PB blaster is almost all gone due to rear
rotors being stuck!

My Father bought his Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 10 years ago and we had
this problem since the day we bought it.. and i just fixed it! Thank You
Soo much!

barbara oney says:

I can’t believe how easy this was, thank you so much, mechanics aren’t
always fair with women and your video saved me a bundle….. THANKS SOOOOOO
MUCH!!!!!!!!

Autotechviewpoint says:

That is great to hear, glad to save you cash, and headache

JyrishtheVirus says:

Another tip, if you cant fix it right away just hit the reset button when
the door ajar error message is up and that will allow you to read mileage
and see everything else on the message center.
