this is one of the best vids on you tube I’ve seen. not only because its
well done, but because I have a 2001 that’s identical. the tips and tricks
that you pointed out in the vid were right on mark. thanks.
very good video !!! i have an 1999 Grand Marquis and i have a terrible
squeaking and knokings in the suspension, i jacked up the car and found the
idle arm moves up and down when directions turn and the pitman arm squeaks
too, i kept checking and found the swaybar end link is broken too both of
them. I have to buy some tools cause i wanna try to replace that by myself
and i have no tools jajajaj nice video !! a lot of help
Interesting that you mention that the steering wheel sits off-centre with a
worn idler arm bushing. Do you remember if the steering wheel sits to the
left or right?
When I was replacing MY idler arm it looked like the sleeve from the old
one is stuck on the stud of the center drag link, was yours stuck on as
well? My new idler will not go on because of this.
Thanks for your video I have worked on cars in the same weather conditions
and I know it makes everything a bit harder. My 1989 lincoln towncare has
the same idler arm.
I need advice. I have a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. 135k Miles engine
runs beaufiful. Took it to a shop they wanted to charge me over 1,000
dollars to fix the loud sqealing and speaking noise from the front
suspention. the car is sqeaking really bad and sqealng when I turn the
streering wheel or when i make turns. Someone said I need new ball joints
another person said i need a new sway bar and pit arm. What do you think
this is I would like to get it done as cheap as possible. Thanks
Did you have any trouble sliding the idler arm onto the center link? The
idler arm I have looks the same as the one you installed but it doesn’t
seem to fit onto the center link.
Good vid. I got stuck on where the foam bushings went too. My new part came
with washers to put on te bushings, the original did not, but I have a 2001
Lincoln TC Also, some people commented about the sleeve on the center link.
I used a small butane torch, made it red hot, grabbed it with vise grips
and twisted until it loosened

Great Video as Always. I have to say I don’t really miss the old school
recirculating ball steering on the Grand Marquis. LMAO
Great vid, like the way you explain the ins and outs of the removal and
installation. You should become an instructor. Clear and detailed. Thanks!
