Did you reuse the caliper bolts or use new ?

Retracting brake caliper – I was able to retract the calipers with the special tool(see video) i purchased from the local auto parts store for $12.00, but it was tough! Loosen the bleeder nipple, apply pressure, and turn(Left rear(drivers side) turn clockwise, right rear turn counter clockwise). You will see brake fluid oozing out of the nipple, thats how you know it is going in. Make sure you close the nipple when you stop so no air gets in the line(see bleeding brakes elsewhere if you did).

Ohh and hang the rotor, then the caliper bridge with clean lubed hardware, slide the pads in, Inspect the backing plate and that the pads are not binding and slide in freely, then slide the caliper on… I fix way too many brake jobs done wrong to not know what i’m doing….. Good video !

jaredta1a says:

hang the rotor with a lug nut, wire brush the anti rattle clips if they are not bent or worn, lube the slide pins, anti rattle clips and backs of pads if you want… bleed the breaks if you want or if you feel like you need to… break lube does not need to dry, it never dries, Lube kind like Grease only synthetic

jaredta1a says:

if equipped with abs, it is recommended to pump the petal about 40 times with the key off to release the abs pressure, you will feel a pressure change. Those calipers have a REVERSE screwing action, Mostly a Ford Thing.. make sure your e-brake is off and turn the caliper “RIGHTY LOOSY” opposite

jaredta1a says:

not recommended to paint anti seize were the hub is, it can cause the wheel to be slightly off center when torqued down. rotors never rust their anyway, they rust it the hub fits too closely to the rotor hat portion. Usually rear rotor never rust because they have little to no offset.

jaredta1a says:

I’m sorry but I do this for a living and you are working Way to hard. pull the parking break to get the screw loose,….. that screw is installed at the factory so the rotor doesn’t float around when you are installing the caliper bridge and pads.

Can that special brake caliper retracting tool be rented at Autozone? Or is this some special tool only available at Ford? It seems like a lot of money to buy.
