Mark,
Many many thanks. An excellent narative. I’ve been dreading replacing the
struts on my ’05 Freestyle. 2 quotes for the front struts were over
$1100.00 Actual cost for the parts less than $300.00 Every thing went much
better than expected but I was unable to loosen the lower A-arm bolt.
Fortunately it moved with the application of my foot on the long screw
driver. I am going to link your video to the Myfordfreestyle forum. I used
Sachs struts and Moog bearing seats. At 120k there was no pressure in the
OEM struts and the bearing seat was in shambles. Hard to beleive but the
ride didn’t seem out of control.

Excellent video and much appreciated. Debating doing the struts on my ’07
Freestyle.

For your sake I hope you try out a 1/2″ breaker bar and save the wear on
your 1/2″ ratchet. Plus the breaker bars usually have a handle that’s
probably 4″ to 6″ longer to make it way easier to apply greater force.
