What the Hell was Mercedes thinking? Major Engine Problem You Should Look Out For.

What the Hell was Mercedes thinking? Major Engine Problem You Should Look Out For.

Shopping for a Mercedes-Benz? Good for you, but don’t buy anything untill watching this video. In this new series I hightlight common or ridiculously expensive repairs on certain modesl. I go over how to tell if your car, or a future used car exhibits behaviors consistant with the issue, I talk about what to do about it, and how much it could cost. I include a lot of material here in the description box on manufactures bulletins, Recalls and potential extended warranties. I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe.

Balance Shaft Bulletin from Mercedes

Extended warranty coverage

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AI8fWAj-vicEHUKN9EG1vJr2mLHa3unH/view?usp=sharing

If your engine serial number is higher than that on the bulletin, you are safe and your balance shaft or gear (V8) is the updated part.

If anyone has an idea for a future video in this series, post up or email. Legitstreetcars@gmail.com.  I can get my hands on a lot of different cars so this could be fun.  Must be something interesting like a major design flaw, something really expensive or very common.  Can't wait to hear from you.

Michael Poole says:

If the gear has slipped the chain, it usually comes up code P0016, P0017 for passenger side. It's possible to check alignment by removing the camshaft sensors, crank motor to 310 degrees, look in holes of sensors at alignment stamps. If they aren't visible crank another full turn clockwise to 310 degrees. The stamps are a circle of numbers and the circle should be dead center of both sensor holes. If off at all, timing chain has slipped a tooth.

From what year to what year is this a problem for a Mercedes….

bob haz says:

They want to charge you thousands of dollars to fix factory defects that should be recalls no honor no respect to their customers

bob haz says:

Why do you have to sue Mercedes-Benz to get them to fix problems in their cars

bob haz says:

Why is this not a factory recall

bob haz says:

So this is a defective part from the dealership but the dealership not a factory recall you have to sue Mercedes to get them to do anything they know it's a defective part but they won't replace it for you they're not honest very very dishonest they just lost a lawsuit lying treating their customers a bunch of Mercedes just lost 3 to $7,000 in value your car isn't worth what it was yesterday

Geht Euchnixan says:

Mercedes build Mercedes up to 1995. After that they build only garbage. I am sad to say, but that is the truth. I am German and worked for the car industries and Mercedes. In former times, when you go into a shop in Germany and you wanted to buy for instance a Coffee machine, the sales would regularly say to you: "Take this product, this is the Mercedes Benz at coffee machines." No one would say that in Germany since 10 Years now. If the salesman would, you would answer: Ok, the machine corrodes to death fast and have multiple electrical issues? But that doesn't matter, because the engine will die soon because of a weak timing chain?

But the whole German car industries build shit at the moment. Everything complicated with electronic up to a amount, no one needs, but cheep implemented and by design bad to fix. That leads to the situation that cars which are 3 Years + are extreme expansive to drive, because the dealers can, or don't want, to repair the cars at appropriate cost..

Sad but the car industries in Germany is going to die…
