LOL no not fun…but not as bad as i was making it. ON the safety switch on
the right (forget what its called…metal hollow piece…MB emblem on one
side of it) anyway i had that on backwards and it was making it..well
impossible lol. I actually tried the lube and tapping lightly w/ a
hammer..didnt want to f**** anything up. but i never got it to be ‘free
sliding’ like that…about to go try right now! wish me luck!

The Nissan March CVT and Mercedes transmissions are very very
different…I’m sorry but I don’t have any experience with the transmission
in your car.

Hey thanks for the videos. I have a 94 C280 and on the way to work while
leaving a red light i press on the gas pedal and nothing. The funny thing
is reverse gear worked fine. I tries moving the gear stick back and forth
and nothing. What do you think it is Thank you.

fupabox says:

good luck..you’ve had it apart which is farther that most people will prob.
get…congrats on getting it together..it’s a bit of a pain…you’ll get it
though..on the back of the shifter assembly facing upwards to the rear is
the spring loaded ball that stops in each of the 4 rounded notches in the
metal base..that ball is prob stuck from not ever compressing against the
spring..you should be able to free it up hopefully..

The Mercedes specialists and dealerships I have spoken to all drain and
replace only what comes out of the transmission drain pan..they don’t
recommend draining the torque converter…cold engine and new fluid should
be the same temp… drain and remove the pan, replace the filter and measure
the amount of fluid drained out..replace that amount with the new
fluid..since both are the same temp. the amount is more accurate..then
drive till the fluid is warm and check the level and add if needed

fupabox says:

the bushings under the car that link the shifter to the transmission are
most likely broken.if they break they don’t allow the shifter to push the
rod on the transmission into gear. They are only a few $ each and not that
difficult to replace..

k bernard says:

im also doing a tranny flush because the fluid is pretty dirty any ideas on
how to get the rest of the fluid out of the tranny? thanks

fupabox says:

Lol ..it’s mostly patience 🙂

k bernard says:

Thank you so much fupabox i will look into it

lol im a TOTAL car novice, so this is all very informational and rather
entertaining!

k bernard says:

thanks for the quick respond i will look into it.

fupabox says:

it sounds more like you have a shifter bushing (possibly both…there are 2
) that has worn out..they are very inexpensive (under $10 each) but a bit
of a pain to replace, not too hard just fiddly..they can be reached from
under the car and are a common issue on many Mercedes models
