Thats the automatic transmission cover, (mercs dont have a dip stick for
the auto transmission its sealed by mercedes) All cars Mercs, BMW, Jag,
Rolls, all have a engine dipstick.

@DavidOv54367 Glad this helped you make that decision!

DavidOv54367 says:

because of this video i decided to save some money and go with the 7400
model.

beaman220 says:

Cool. I have the same topsider. It works alright. But I know your pain on
the rubber plug though. I used dielectric lubs/grease on it and it pops
right out. Make sure when you store it. You don’t store it with the plug
it. ↓ Continued ↓

dustinr16 says:

I stand corrected. You are correct. Later models had a 1.8L Supercharged 4
cylinder engine.

I prefer the method to remove the oil from the bottom.

tonespinner says:

Excellent tutorial. And what a combination, Mercedes Benz and Wayne
Shorter!!

incredibleblt says:

Thanks bro for posting things! I’m actually in the market to buy a 2005
C230 with the 1.8L engine. Has yours been good to you? Problems? Issues? I
test drove one and can’t stop thinking about it. Thanks again!

d2meji says:

@MrD50boy There is a drain hole at the bottom (atleast in my E320), but its
a lot convenient to pump out the oil this way…that’s the same way they do
the oil change at the dealership. Instead of paying them $100 to do it this
way…U can do it yourself!!!

Peter Evangelista says:

You seem to know a lot about this… Do you know if it is the same
procedure for a 98′ SLK 230 Kompressor engine? …………I want to start
doing more “DIY” things for my car. Thanks

incredibleblt says:

@handsomebassman Thanks for the advice! Can I ask how many miles you had on
your when you decided to give up? I actually called me mechanic about a 05
C230 Kompressor and he highly recommended the car. It’s no Honda, but in
his words, it’s one of the lowest maintenance foreign cars out there.
Hoping to find the right one for myself soon… Thanks again for the video
post!

handsomebassman says:

@alextilson Not a dipstick per say, its just a cover over the tube. In
other words, there is no long metal dipstick that goes into the pan to
check levels.

handsomebassman says:

@incredibleblt Hey there, sorry for the delayed reply! I recently sold my
C230 (as the miles were starting to get a bit high) and miss it like crazy
already. I do long drives and started working for Toyota and bought a
Solara, but miss the peppyness of my benz. The only problems I had were a
few O2 sensors, and a cylinder misfire – and they are a bit of an
electrical mess sometimes. Definitely recommended though if you want a fun
little car with a three pointed star on the bonnet.

Vasegan Naidoo says:

Good tutorial, But I must see these 1.8 m271 engine are among the worst
engines mercedes ever produced.

Fernando Avila says:

DUDE i want to get this car.. how do you like it?

ludlud89 says:

good job, well explained for us noobs out there 😛

Ramilc230 says:

The mittvac its good but if want to remove the o-ring on the filter housing
best tools for 4ps pick tool kit. Thanks

Darkmand8 says:

hi, i have c320 2001 basically a similar model to your c230 kompressor. i
put in 5 quarts of oil and the red light pop up. Is it suppose to be 5
quarts 6 quarts. someone told me its 7.5 quarts? please help

handsomebassman says:

@albertoarcea36 48″ will probably work, but you may only have a foot left
hanging out the tube. The tubes for the Mityvac are fairly long, I assume
around 72″.

5tytttttgfgftlaxln says:

Alextilson There for the gearbox is empty:-(

MrRomanianStallion says:

Awsome thanks dude

handsomebassman says:

Sounds like you need to do your research… M111 – 2.3L motor used from
01-02, M271 1.8L used from 03-06.

TastesLikeChicken says:

The oil filter placement sucks ass.

MrD50boy says:

I’m looking into buying a used 05 model. Is this the only way to change the
oil? Isn’t there a drain bolt like every other car? I usually do my own
maintenance and I’ve never worked on a MB.

beaman220 says:

Oil change wise I usually jack the car up and take the plug out because its
insurance that I got al of the junk out. As opposed to a topsider that
sucks from where ever the tube lands. I also run Lubro Moly Engine Flush in
it before I change the oil too. Fantastic stuff developed by the Germans.
Napa usually can order it in 4 u.

handsomebassman says:

Did you also know that in the european market they even titled the C-class
coupes as C180k, C200K, and the C230K? – ALL with a 1.8L, varying from non
supercharged version to the eaton m40 supercharged model that I have. The
new C63 AMG has a 6.2L motor as well… If you don’t know your benz’s, keep
my comments page clean please.
