your 500s will have individual switches under the console, and not a circuit board like this one..your 500s will have connectors to each switch that can be unplugged and cleaned individually

joaojero says:

Disconnect the wires, check if the wires were cut near to the door hinge.
After connect everything it simply started to work…
Why? don’t now!
Thanks.

theres a bulb for each individual letter or number i believe theres 8 in mine

I’m pretty sure like most of the Mercedes switches etc..there is an led in there from the factory that would need to be unsoldered and replaced…I’ll try to get a video up of doing that ASAP..

I tried on mine but its different, it doesnt have all that PCB. Instead every button does the connection on itself. Anyway I cleaned all that build up dirt there.
On my gearbox the P N R D 3 2 1 are not lighted anymore, maybe the bulb is burned, can you do a video on how to change that bulb? I tried to remove the cover but it seams it doesnt move.

btw once I have fixed this I am selling it. haha so if you want a mercedes 180E with a whole heap of new wiring - its only $4,200. 😀

Henry James says:

yep so i took it to my mechanic… turns out the whole wiring needs to be re-done as the last owner did a crappy job… its going to cost me an arm and a leg. Over the phone quote – between $110 and $2000…

fupabox says:

check the fuses in the trunk under the floor by the battery…will the windows still close with the remote ?

Henry James says:

All of my switches stopped the other day! Super annoying and I don’t know how to fix it. I think I will have to take it to an Auto electrician! 🙁

Your videos are always very helpful. Thank you!

It’s been rotten weather here lately and the onerous part of my work schedule (+ had to find a used car for a family member after her car suddenly croaked….the oil light is NOT meant to be ignored…when I checked her dead car I got more oil on the dipstick by waving it in the air than sticking it in the oil pan…not a drop in it !…seized. LOL) I have some stuff I hope to do shortly..and get back to the wreckers for your switch. 🙂

fleetfighter says:

I had to do the same thing. But with years of caked soda welded the slides in place. I had to use wd-40. Even took the power mirror switch apart (BIG PIA). The left rear window switch won’t work still.

Glad to see you’re back.

fupabox says:

you are very welcome..thank you for watching 🙂
