Great video. Excellent work at de-mystifying the job…

They are pretty solid for their age..there’s no real computerized gadgets to worry about, some of the parts are ridiculously priced..suspension and drivetrain is rock solid and shares a ton of parts with the w124.interior parts are exposed to the sun for years and get fragile..replacements are hard to find, but the dealership can get any part of it..at a price though. depends on the climate you are in ,and the # of miles driven yearly..the 320 is cheaper to run and easier to work on engine wise

Thanks for all the great videos. Just changed out my water pump and I wouldn’t have thought about ordering the bolts due to the different lengths. Job was easy enough but I was glad I saw it all beforehand.

So how do you like the SL? I’m thinking about picking one up down the road to replace the c230 as a daily driver. Is the maintenance that much more involved or expensive? I know the parts are probably more spendy, but are they that much worse or is it much more finicky with maintenance?

fupabox says:

900 bucks.. that’s way too much..it only takes around an hour or 2 at most..and the pump is around $120

Thank you. Excellent vid. Got mine done in no time.

fupabox says:

according to the original owners records no fuel pump yet 🙂 fingers crossed

Jake Von Friederich says:

so you got almost 186,000 miles on your car. did you have any problems to with your fuel pump yet? I had to replace mine only at a 112,000 miles. it’s a fairly easy job i’d say.

fupabox says:

the pump should only ever come on when the car is started cold..if it is coming on while driving you may have a fuel related problem…have you ever seafoamed the engine ? add some to the fuel tank (1/2 bottle to a full tank) and let the tank run to low fuel light comes on before refilling…the rpm drop is from the high draw the pump puts on the alternator..like when you switch on the rear defroster..possible the battery is getting weak as well

powerpcmac says:

With that pump in mind…I seem to be getting a vapour lock/flood on the engine here and there (maybe, I’m not that mechanically inclined to know for sure) But the RPMs drop low and the lights dim, then that pump starts right up. Does it mean anything special for things to happen in that order? It isn’t a huge problem really, just odd

fupabox says:

24 inches…23 will work as well if you get the wiper slapping at the far end of its travel..some 24s seem longer than others..the aero blades seem to be a bit too long when using 24 inches

fupabox says:

air injection pump..it’s part of the emissions system…it’s under the alternator

Nima someh says:

hey man, thnx for the vid. but what is that buzzing sound that starts after 10 seconds when you turn the engine on and its cold. it sounds like a jet engine lol and then it goes away after a few minutes. I am sure it is related to cooling system but I am not sure if its to heat the water electrically.

Jake Von Friederich says:

i have to do a wiper blade replacement. it’s 24 inches same as the 124?
