Sorry didn’t finish that reply.. if one of the springs is missing the shoes
will either rub the inner brake drum, or the centre hub..either could cause
damage by driving without replacing the spring

fupabox says:

yeah, there are springs that pull the shoes inwards at top and bottom, and
also springs to hold the shoes to the brake backing plate

any idea on how to replace the parking brake (behind the rotor) when i was
removing my rear rotors, a spring came flying out and looks like it was
held in some kind of shoe. and now everytime i drive, i hear something
hitting against another thing and it gets louder as i go faster. havent
gone past 10mph because im scared itll be bad. and my ebrake pedal seems to
not feel the same at all a lot more tension.

Legend, thanks again!

fupabox says:

pretty much the same…the parking brake is a drum brake contained within
the rear rotor…when you remove the rear rotor you will see the parking
brake shoes etc. they generally don’t go bad,but cleaning them off with
brake cleaner and lubing it mostly all that is needed..make sure the
parking brake is released or the rear rotor can’t be removed

I need to replace the brakes (pads and discs) on the ass end, is this same
as the front? I read something about the handbrake? Thank in advance!

actually I don’t know the brand..they were the mid-level priced rotors from
my local parts supplier and had no brand markings on the box..$32.
each…I’ll see if I can find the brand name and get back to you
