no shop I know uses a dial gauge…no shop uses new caliper bolts unless the old ones are rusted, the originals are better quality anyway, and I did mention re-lock titing the bolts…I worked in many garages since I was 14 and they all removed and installed bearings the same way..I have no way of controlling what people do, even though they are shown a spark plug socket, some will use vice grips..Haynes and Chiltons shouldn’t sell manuals to anyone without a license by that reasoning.
hi my friend I have small problem with my car and I hope you can help me with your knowledge. I have P 0256 cod which is injector pump fuel metering control B ,do u know what it is ,and how can I fix it my regards
hi thanks for the video it was very good.i change my front bearing ..i have one question i made a small mistake .. i mede a small scrach in your video you said that is not good .i allready fit the bearing and driving the car .whay yuo said that is not good what can happend
yeah races where a pain. What did you use? in the end i ended up using a large chisel that would sit on 2 points of the race so more force would be aplied more evenly they came off pretty easy compare to using a flat head screw drive or pin.
I used a breaker bar and it came off too it might have been a little harder but it worked. after that the only hard time that i had was removing the races, it took me some time
one more question. what did you use to remove the caliper bolts, im trying to remove them and they are very tight. I took the car for a rotor change last year so they only have been there for a year. I’m trying with a ratchet. Did you use a breaker bar?
check the wheel sensor from the side that was grabbing..it could be coated in brake dust and metallic filings from the grabbing pads..possible the excess heat from the sticking caliper fried the sensor…it is also possible as you say it just may need re-setting…unhook the battery for a few minutes and then re-hook it up,and see if that clears the light
I took it to a friend who “hates” working on Mercedes but we figured out the problem, the caliper piston was dirty, we sanded it off and re-greased it and so far no problem, the light is still on however but the ABS works, so does it need to be reset or something? Thanks for the reply and advice.
ask all the questions you want..that’s what I’m here for 🙂 ..you don’t need to grease the lock nut ,but it will get covered in grease from the dust cover anyway..a bit of grease on the threads is no problem and will help it turn easier..the lock nut/retainer nut does hold the wheel bearings onto the spindle
yeah baby
allahu akbar
your the fuckin HOMO !
man ur having fun with fingers rubbing the greese u fucking homo

the new hubs do NOT come with bearings installed..not sure what you are talking about !!
unless it is a 4matic..the procedure is the same
Great upload, very helpful I hope. Would this same procedure apply to the W203 chassis?

Indeed… done this a couple of times on Mercs and there’s some margin in tightening the nut
thank you…….
prematurely wear the bearing, and lower fuel milage
What it would do if you over tightening the nuts

your videos are very helpful.
if it is a small scratch on the rotor it shouldn’t be a problem
I made very small scratch on the rotor with the punch ..when I take the race out
if you scratched the face of the race where it rubs against the bearings..it will just wear out the bearing more quickly

great video thanks a lot my friend
yea I used a flat head at it was a pain

I had to heat my nuts on my 2000 SLK230 they were lock tite, Used propane torch for about a minute or too and came right off
Thank you very much.
Depending on how tight they were put on you may need a breaker bar to get them off..possibly lock-tited as well ,
