This 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350 has it’s 12 volt battery under the front passenger seat, so there are several additional steps to take when replacing the battery. Although this video may provide you with the basic procedures, we recommend that you check with the vehicle manufacture’s step by step procedures found in service/repair manuals for the vehicle you are working on.
The use of a memory saving procedure will keep the vehicle’s computers memory’s alive during the battery replacement procedure. Refering to our Memory Saving video will provide you with various memory saving procedures that can be used according to vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. https://youtu.be/vSP3ShcaFgQ
Some late model vehicles must have the 12 volt battery registered with the vehicle’s Battery Control Module or Computer after replacement. See these videos on Battery registration and coding for more details on the procedures at https://youtu.be/TGKohKZHzr0 & https://youtu.be/cxOK_DczRGg
Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with or near batteries.
this battery weighs like a lot and gettign it out is not easy….
Thank you for this video. This is the last Mercedes or German car I ever buy and I will be selling it soon. You have to be an absolute idiot to think this was a good placement for a battery.
my mercedes ml 2007 has the same battery place , i faced a problem with this , when the battery was dead i couldnt move the seat , all the electrics in the car went off , also i didnt have the tools that will help me to change the battery , at the end i took the whole car to mercedes maintenance to put a new battery , the place of battery under the passenger seat is very wrong , very hard to change by yourself , you need some expert to do it for you , if they put it in the trunk will be the best , now i discovered also that they repeated this with ml 2012 ! .
Big help, thanks for being so detailed
A local (non-dealership) Benz shop quoted me $509 to replace both the main + auxiliary (didn't even know there was one!) batteries on my 2011 ML320. Apparently the aux battery is there to help with gear changing, etc if the main battery dies completely.
I just had the battery changed on my ML350 2012 and it cost me $800. Can someone please tell me why they couldn't put the battery in the hood of the car?? Would have been easier and cheaper. First time I ever paid some one to replace a battery in a car.
Great video, easy explanation and doable……just one thing is lacking, and you know yourself "battery shop", the pain in the a** to get the old battery out, physically out. 😉
When I started this video, I was thinking this is crazy… but actually it makes sense to help avoid premature battery aging and corrosion.
Guy was incredibly easy to follow and understand and explained
“Exactly” how to do it.
This Instructor is one of the most personable I have ever seen
How can I move the seat without battery/power
Anyone know where the Comand fuse is located?
Thank you, great tutorial, this was the same for my 2017 GLE 350
This is a great video! And the memory keep alive is awesome. That was the one thing that was keeping me from doing it myself.
Yeah, you guys make removing that 75 pound ballast look easy – it isn't. It's a very tight fit down there and getting that sucker out is anything but easy.
Lol you have to cut the carpet dumbest design ever
@0:24 To all my friends that live in countries that drive cars that have the drivers seat on the right hand side like myself. Do not cut the carpet underneath the passenger seat like I did (following this video). I hacked into the carpet and insulation almost breaking every panel to find that there was no battery "underneath the passenger seat". When I finally conceded defeat and checked the drivers seat for whatever reason….. I cried, laughed and was f***ed off for a minute or 10. The battery was under the drivers seat. Video should have just said the right hand side. Thanks me later. Please pin my msg so no other idiot does the same mistake 🙂
Se le puede poner cual quier batería de 12 voltio?
Can I use a trickle charger as a memory saver? Also, in my 2007 ML350 manual it suggests not charging the battery while the battery is in the car. Do you think it really unsafe to trickle charge overnight -I promise I will not have any animals or children in the vehicle while I am charging the battery/
I think people call u Incredible Hulk
Such a useful video. Clear and straight to the point, unlike the battery placement in these cars lol. Saved me a trip to the dealership, thanks so much
Never would have thought to make that little cut, great tip tyvm take my like
Great video Thank you
Getting the battery out this way is basically impossible. Remove the seat if you can.
Too bad of the battery is flat and you can’t move the chair
