Recently replaced the battery in my W204. Slowly the starter seemed to crank slower then one day it had no juice. For a few days I had to use my little jump starter in the mornings. Looked around for a replacement H7 agm battery and just ended up at the local MB dealer, was $201 plus refundable core charge and has 2yr warranty. Installed it at home, I wanted to take my time and clean everything nice. Removed the old battery and it looked like a squirel or mice had made a nest at some point, it was filthy. Had to get the shop vac out.

One thing is make sure to connect the vent tube, it was on the right side on mine. Then the battery came with a tiny red plug on the positive post plastic cover to plug the opposite side vent hole.

I didn't even have to reprogram anything, even the radio stations were still there.

Jose DuranJr says:

Any vent plug? Did you use a computer to reset the computer?

REPLACING THE COOLANT RESERVOIR/FILL TANK.

Patrick Bolmeyer says:

Even though the terminals and connecting clamps looked good, shouldn't you have cleaned them anyway?

J H says:

Yo, you failed to mention two important points.
1) There's supposed to be a small tube for the hydrogen gas to be vented. You didn't show it, and you didn't even mention it. That's rather an important thing to forget.
2) The W211 can actually accommodate three different sizes of battery. The long original size, as well as two shorter lengths. Of course, you'd likely want the original size, but at 8PM on a Saturday night, then maybe the store can only offer one of the smaller lengths. There are actually three positions in the floor for the clamp, and the strap can also be tightened as required. And the negative ground lead has extra length for this reason. All these features are intended to accommodate different lengths of battery; which is very nice.

Worth noting, the battery in our 2008 W211 just died a few months ago, manufactured in 2007. The original battery lasted 15 years without trouble, until it suddenly died late on a Saturday night. We were able to find a shorter length replacement and amazed to see how it slotted in perfectly. Job done in much less than an hour.

Well done, Mike. @Macario Luna has a great Question. Do you need to program it, like you do on Audi products?
