Hope everyone is well! I’m away on holiday atm so sorry I’ve not interacted with you all as I like to make an effort the day the video goes out. Hope you all enjoyed this one seeing what goes on etc. all the best to everyone. And thanks for watching.

@paulshanesmith says:

A flimsy plastic shutter to do the job of a thermostat and a £1400 bill to replace a bulb, that's progress!!

@MissionVanPossible says:

Glad I found the channel new sub here.
Been thinking of starting a small diagnostic (only) business myself but like you said no one wants to pay for it.
Still tracking down our Mercedes Sprinter turbo actuator problem, seems to not settle in wants to adjust for no reason.

@steveelkins52 says:

There you go, that's why diagnosis should only be charged when a fault actually exists. Not dragged around 3 garages because ''these cars are complicated''. If you aren't up to speed, then it's just a scam.

@azaz2981 says:

Be honest, I don't like Germany car after 80000 miles they start oli leaking they used plastic parts . Best cars Toyota. is got e -class never buy again i also changed my headlight because only lens broken but u can't buy lens only u have buy hole headlight which cost me 1175 . We are dealing with mafia .

@azaz2981 says:

Great stuff, job well done. i like ur videos very much informatics .

@deadliaski says:

Not much in the way of diagnosis is it. Just the worst side of an extortion industry. Subscribe to exclusive and pricey kit which should be available to everyone, read a fault, canon fire parts to confirm and charge customers ridiculous numbers for very little work done. I think you would be sending work to proper diagnosticians like PHAD.

@fredericsangiorgi9507 says:

Thanks for posting. Great business you’re running.

@MrBurwoodman says:

Can’t uou buy a used module from a wreckers?

@moogaming281 says:

Ah the indicator error message … My 2016 E class had this, control unit and replacement headlamp unit … £2000 … Nearly a quarter of the value of the car 🙁

@jwoodman says:

Fantastic. I have no interest in Mercedes or any other car for that matter – I watch your videos to be dazzled by the breadth of your knowledge and your incredible problem-solving ability.

@nighthawk3559 says:

I'm leaking blood out my assholee. Can you tell me what's wrong please

@bryanshort8942 says:

Great video Sam. I don't think my Range Rover L405 is so bad now, all I have spent is £168 on a oil cooler in three years

@caliqm2199 says:

What a humbling video, honestly. I always think I want to buy a new expensive luxury car, but I don't think I could ever swallow spending £1400 on a single headlamp, no matter how rich I get.

@DanBJim says:

So what you are saying is you charged 200 quid to replace a sensor. You could have done this for 100 quid all in and have it done in less than 30 minutes, that's including "plugging it in". what a Muppet. Greedy.

@serdarsezer1079 says:

So the customer pays for that extra. You lease it, and the customer pays for Mercedes.

@MrCarlos196744 says:

All that software should be free for you , you are Mercedes specialists, you represent Mercedes , if you are qualifying From Mercedes also they should supply same special Mercedes tools.
In return you only use original parts .

@bornintheslivedinthesstuckinth says:

Diagnostics fees and investigation fee! just another term for squeezing more cash out of the customer.

Recently had similar experience with garage NOT SPR , goes in with high water temp , says it will be the water pump. Then charges one hour's labour for investigation and hey presto it is the water pump. Then repaired under warranty and charges for removal and fitting of water pump even though its bee removed for the investigation. Gone are the days when a garage with just do there job an charge for that job even though now they have diagnostic tools to make the process 'easier'.

@Leozmad says:

Sounds similar to my E350. S212. 2013. 186,000 miles.
Had pressure sensor faults on all cylinders? Ran fine until limp??
Sensor Within injectors I think?
Tried a couple of injectors,
Tried all sorts of things.
No code stored after limp???
It ended up gas leak on turbo inlet.
Something was sensing gasses within engine bay I think? Most likely time for limp M6 smart motorway holding constant speed on limiter. Nightmare to replicate. Weird problem. A Hardened seal on turbo inlet. Changed along with oil filter due to hardened seals in bottom of V.
2x manifolds. Vertical play in old ones. Seriously clogged with carbon. Can’t understand how it actually ran???? Biro size hole? In all ports? Also did any WYI ThereThings.
I had tried everything to replicate but caught it and didn’t stop engine. My tech guy dropped everything to plug in tbf. He had tried all sorts.
I gave him the swirl flap mod arms as I had paid for them ready in anticipation of replacement during deep filter swap. Gave as a thanks. He can make use of them.
( need a video on what supermarket fuel does?, saves short run but over time it really costs. Going to get engine carbon clean every 2 years also.)
Has to be most maintained S212 ever lol.
Hope this might give guidance on a weird fault that was hard to replicate. Probably a £5 seal if that? Causing all the confusion for the EMS.
As you have probably gathered, I have ADHD and am also a tad eccentric lol. Invent and repurpose along with getting past manufactured profit time bombs built into everything since the lightbulb. Now to the extreme.
Take care Steve
Love your videos

@khoff3480 says:

Very useful video. It gives an understanding of what and why workshops charge for. Thank you.

@joshahhhyeah9993 says:

Cheap compared to around here. Dealer is $400/hr and most indys are $200/ hr USD.
Love it when i go and the dont properly fix it as well and are no better than a parts cannon

@gerrywhelan7426 says:

Got rid of my stupid over complicated Merc.
Bought a Toyota, far superior build quality.
