The new coolant expansion tanks (part no. 1265001549) for Mercedes-Benz W123 cars, particularly the later turbos or any earlier model that has been converted to have an expansion tank, have a side outlet that is there for other models. You will need to buy a plug kit (part no. 1265000084) for your 240D or 300D, and it will be important to use dielectric grease or similar to get it to press in, it is a very snug fit.
