interesting repair, I went through a similar process the other day when I
replaced the heated seat in my Honda Pilot. definitely was not an easy job
nor was the part cheap (had to get it from Honda since i couldn’t find it
at a junk yard), but now it works and I’m much happier with it. My biggest
problem was removing the hog clips that hold the upholstery to the cushion,
I ended up replacing them with zip ties afterwards, and that seemed to work
fine.

Furthermore, in my taxi-days (we operated W115’s, W123’s, W124’s and W210’s
only) we used tie-wraps, wooden planks and styrofoam (is that’s how it’s
spelled) to rejuvenate drivers seats. No dealer’s shite whatsover, we
improvised!

Following-up to my latest posting, this means, if you have a worn-out
drivers-seat (in my experience, this works for W114/115, W116, W123 and
W124), usually the passenger seat is still good. Just swapping the seats
will do the trick and you can’t be bothered with worn-down
spring-assemblies or whatnot.

you Sir, are a steely-eyed Mercedes-Man. I’m really enjoying your
contributions. One thing you have to add on this one is that the
seat-bottoms (sittings; waddya callit) are interchangeable left-right.
