Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what size is the wrench to remove the bolt holding the injector? Its a 6mm bolt but has torx head, what is the size of wrench that fits that?
I did other 2 injectors, 2 and 3 recently. Exactly the same procedure. Worked really well. Just for injector 2-3 i had to remove windscreen wipers all that above engine as there is not enough room.
your torque spec is outdated now it is 7nm +90 +90.you didnt had to cut the old seating, just clean it very good with scotch brite, blowing air and patience.good it turned out OK. cheers
had this problem many times before, common fault with merc engines. I generally run engine up to temperature before attempting to remove the injector then use a lever under the hex at the top while turning the injector left and right only by about an 1/8 inch as I'm levering, this helps the injector to come out. the carbon is easily cleaned off once the worst has been chipped off by soaking with cellulose thinners, this includes soaking a rag and pushing it into the injector housing with a flat head screwdriver (carefully mind) and turning it so that the rag and thinners clean the injector walls. It really does work and works well
I have never done this before. It took me longest to clean black carbon deposits, few hours approximately. To take injector out and put it back in it was easiest part of the job. I don't think it took me 45min. Heating the copper i did as i though it will make it softer little bit so it sits nicely. It has been few months now Vito running perfectly. Thanks for watching.
had same problem with a sprinter, they worked 1 week and 2 days on it, they couldn't get it done, when I said that they should heat up the new copper washer they started laughing like two idiots 😀
