This is s great video. Why do you need a locking pin? Also, when the belt
is in place, it seems like you should take your rachet and move it to the
right. Do you really move it to the left to tighten it? Thanks.

Check for play on all pulleys, it is normally best to install a new idler
pulley at the same time of doing this job, especially if you’re in the
upper mileage range, exceeding 150,000 miles. It’s not an expensive part
and eBay offers a complete kit, tensioner pulley part, serpentine belt, and
the idler pulley, which will require a pulley puller tool that most auto
parts stores loan out.
Who knows, I may end up uploading some clips since, I have got, quite a few
things on my plate, in store for my ML55 AMG. Double din DVD head unit,
inner & outer tie rod ends, power steering pump, valve cover gaskets,
Magnaflow complete exhaust kits, 20×10 AMG rims, and I am going to dip my
truck Pearl white, (possibly 2-tone it).
I most definitely, want to flash tune my ECU but, I wish there were more
options available, besides Jet Performance chips. If its got to be them,
then them it will be. I also wish more headers were available, besides the
$3,000 GBP set offered by Kleemanns. A nitrous kit, along with a
Supercharger kit, will be further up the road. Oh yeah, before the AMG 20’s
get slapped on, some lowered H&R springs, along with Bilsteins all around
will be installed. I also just found some thicker Performance, front & rear
sway bars by H&R that are also available.
The springs, will hold me up until the airbag suspension gets thrown in.
Oh, and before the truck gets dipped, you should see the sick ass body kit,
I am going to slap on, with Halo LED black headlights. I can, and already
have, envisioned the final outcome, and believe me, the WORLD will become
familiar with my AMG Project. Trust!

Excellent video. Perfect timing, for me to have bumped into this clip,
right when I’m about to bust mine. I’ve got the M113 NA, 2001ML55 AMG to be
exact and its’ disappointing, to not find that many videos on the W163. I
mainly seek performance upgrades, which YouTube severely lacks, in the
Mercedes Benz ML’s. I’d consider seeing many more performance
modifications, with the AMG’s, as it is to be expected.
Such as, throwing on the complete Magnaflow exhaust systems, that are
offered for the 1998-2005 ML55 AMG’s, (which I’ll be installing in the near
future. I would also like to see, Superchargers, either AMG or, whatever
else is available Kleemann, headers, tuned chips, so far Jet offers it n
Kleemann does but, with a complete performance expensive kit.
Anyhow, it would be nice to see other Performance hungry, AMG owners,
leaving their detailed reviews, & how-to’s. Power steering pump, is
something I’ve must replace soon & Mercedes Source explains how there’s a
common problem with the pumps’ front seal, and so he offers a convenient
diy kit He’s got great diy’s on Benz repairs, and an awesome collection
but, they’re all cars & NO Benz trucks! I don’t even think I’ve seen him
work on AMG. In other words, he’s definitely not much of a HIGH Performance
buff like I am.

LNWOLF HRT says:

please post a video on how to check the transmission oil on the ml320.

M Laker says:

Thank you so much for posting this…. 15 minutes saved me $160

Serge El Bey says:

great job… love your tut..

Attohertz says:

rich, can you use a hex socket instead of e-torx for the older style
tensioner (m112)?

Raul Andrade says:

i have a w220 i was wondering if a pulley can cause a ticking noise

chuckiiman says:

Thanks for this video! It was very helpful when I changed the automatic
tensioner on my 2006 E350 4 matic. The old one was free wheeling really
badly and needed to be changed. Unfortunately, that didn’t cure the
squelling. Do you have any recommendations? Do I have to change the belt
even though the belt appears new?

W210MX says:

Thank you so much!!

Tyrone Ross says:

This time you forgot to pull out the rivet LOL

jon doe says:

How do you remove the belt tensioner assembly…?.. On Mercedes c230 2005
kompressor

BenzWerks says:

@maktor1 YES… lol no actually you guys watching and just letting others
know is plenty . thxs guys for all the support

Gondon says:

At the end do we need to pull out rivet and tighten the bolt back on?

mikeylee2001 says:

These videos are the best. Thank you.

Sana Ne says:

Where can we find the locking pin?

robgreenjeep says:

thanks so much for making these videos. this one alone has saved a lot of
us time and money. my wife’s ml is experiencing some electrical issues…i
think it may be the voltage regulator and want to swap it out. looking down
at the components from atop the compartment doesn’t reveal a lot to us
amateurs, so these detailed diy vids are crucial. thanks again!

animalidades1 says:

The least I can do is thank you very much for your time and effort, this
video was absolutly helpfull God bless you!

BenzWerks says:

@chuckiiman hey there thxs for watching, the belt will squeak if its too
drive and moist. what you can do is while the engine is running lightly
pass a wire brush on the belt . tehy also sell those belt dressing but if
it continues the belt needs changing. make sure they pulleys are dry,
coolant or oil on them make them really noisey

OceanJackson40 says:

Great vid, After seeing were the lock pin goes I was able to remove and
replace the old belt on my 129.

Compfuscious says:

Not sure if you’re still active on this channel but I was wondering if you
had a video advice on how to the replace the 2000 c230 kompressor
supercharger pulley? I see that the magnetic portion is not balance and
probably doesn’t engage correctly.

folder244 says:

Thanks for the video, It is clear and makes the job easy

Rob Smithers says:

I have a 98 Merc 230. I replaced the serpentine belt with a new belt. It
was quiet for awhile but now when i start it up it squeaks really loud but
goes away after a few minutes. Why is it doing that? The belt is tight. Is
it because it is new. I got it at Autozone its a Dayco. I surf and wake the
neighborhood up when i leavet he house at 6am/

neptunestarbaby says:

@BenzWerks Do you need to take out the fan to get to the drive belt in a
