ABS unavailable Mercedes

Remember, even though you’re getting the abs currently unavailable Mercedes light, the repair steps we show you here on this Mercedes (W204) C250, will still apply if you have an abs unavailable ford or if your abs check engine light stays on with other brands of cars like Toyota, Ford, Honda, etc. Once your abs check engine light turns on and stays on, you need to get an OBDII reader scan tool to plug into your OBDII connector under your driver’s side dashboard and read out the check engine light codes. The scanner talks to your car’s computer ECU and reads out the check engine fault codes that set off the check engine light to begin with.

C0034 engine code

Once you read out the code the abs light fix is as simple as determining what the engine fault code is telling us. In this video the C0034 engine code simply means that the front right ABS wheel speed sensor is out. This is a sensor that plugs onto the inside hub of the wheel, supplying wheel speed to the car’s computer. When this ABS brakes sensor fails, the system cannot figure out how to best apply the ABS brakes, so it turns on the abs check engine light, and gives up, saying that ABS is unavailable. Now you have to fix the error message and clear that C0034 code root cause for good.

ABS currently unavailable Mercedes

You can also get the condition where your ABS light stays on Toyota Camry models, and you can get abs light stays on Honda accord vehicles as well.

Hi,

Thank you for your video, helps a ton! Anyway, I just replaced right front wheel speed sensor on my 2012 c250 coupe (have the same code shown in video), but I’m still getting ABS inoperative message, I need to reset or drive more?

Thanks!

2012 Mercedes C250 Luxury – There are two parts that look very similar. The wrong one has wires coming out of it. My lights did not reset until I drove the car 100 yards.

Mario Woods says:

Hello, purchased the new sensor front rt. Changed it as you demonstrated and completed however the lights are still on, I have the icarsoft scanner and the alarm is the same you found, I bought the sensor from Parts Geek, I bought the correct one!! But looking at the old one it had numbers on it I couldn’t find on the Holstein part so I ordered a new on from Mercedes parts sight, it was 77.00 compared to the 37.00 Holstein part, any thing else it could be? I’m a big subscriber you have excellent videos thank you. Mario

Hi, the link for "BAFX Wireless Bluetooth OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner & Reader Tool" says that "This OBD2 scanner does not read ABS, SRS, TPMS, Oil Change or any other non-OBDII related lights". Am I able to read the ABS fault code with this tool or any other simple OBD2 reader? Thanks!

Baby Boss says:

I got the same issue today and went to the dealership, they scanned and tell me that the front left sensor is the issue, but they told me to change all four sensors, two infront and two rear sensors. I was going to change only the two sensors upfront. Because i think theres noproblem with the rear sensors. What do you think and recommend? Should i change all the sensors? Total 4. The cost is pretty high for four sensors. Thankyou!

Ex Pat says:

@carbuyingtipscom: I have a 2012 MBZ C300 that only has 20K miles on it. One day the famous "ABS Unavailable" error message popped up on the instrument cluster. I bought the BAFX OBD2 diagnostic tool and installed the Torque Pro app despite reading that it won't read "ABS" error codes based on your video. The tool did NOT read the ABS error code as yours did. In fact, after trying 4 times. I got 2 error messages, P1254 & U140A, that had nothing to do with the issues I wanted to resolve. Am I missing something? How come your BAFX OBD2 tool was able to read the ABS error code? Thanks!

Taha Al asi says:

Hello first I really appreciate the information you give us, I have 2015 GLA 250 that has the ABS and all of the other lights on as well like in the video the reader said front right wheel speed sensor faulty I replaced the sensor checked all the fuses and I reset all the rights and after I drive the car for less then a 100’ the lights come back again and from the same sensor I checked the sensor and it does have voltage. Any advice what I need to do here please? I really appreciate your help!

Patrick Oleas says:

Great video, thanks for all this information, BTW the OBD II reader you are using in the video I could not read the manufacturer brand would kindly let me know which one is it. Thanks!

Robert Taylor says:

This video is SO HELPFUL. I own a 2006 E55 AMG and had this same issue today (Saturday 06/27/20) and started researching and came across this video and relief came over me….

Awesome video!

Brian Burrows says:

I have an 04 G Wagon AMG55, great car and I was always hesitant in buying a used Merc, but they are really easy to work on, I had this same problem with the ABS light coming on, I replaced the stop lamp switch and tried the steering wheel calibration but nothing would fix it. I was ready to take it to the dealer, the fault code still read stop lamp switch. Then I checked the brake lights, my third brake light was out, started checking the fuses and sure enough one 5 amp fuse was blown, I think the switch went bad and caused the fuse to blow which caused the ABS light to come on. Just an FYI guys. I got lucky!

Andrew Kim says:

Update: I was able to replace my left front wheel speed sensor following this video today!

My 2012 C250 has C0031 which is the left front wheel speed sensor issue. Is left any different from right? Also is left sensor same as the right sensor (I am asking because I want to know if i can just order using your Amazon link for the Genuine MB RPM sensor). Thanks!
