2003 Mercedes Benz E320 Front Suspension Noise

2003 Mercedes Benz E320 Front Suspension Noise

This is the annoying squeaking/squealing/dolphin like noise coming from the driver side front suspension… It is caused by a leaky/faulty lower ball joint…..

LOWER BALL JOINT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED

Sixfigganigga69 says:

Dog, thanks for putting vid up… U got ball joint changed like u
recommended… And i’m rolling like a champ again.. Mechanic charged
$300…NO MORE SQUEAKING lol

Gabriel Ward says:

@mmgrad Mine is doing the exact same on my 2001 S500. It’s so annoying and
I’m going bonkers trying to figure out. Was it the lower ball joint? That’s
what I’m leaning towards.

Danny says:

@italyatalanta; No, once it leaks, all the spray lube won’t help. Just roll
up the windows and you won’t hear a thing. People will just think you have
squeaky brakes :

Sixfigganigga69 says:

Dog… My shit doing same thing, my mechanic told me its the lower control
are inwhich ball joints are included… I thought it was 22’s… But I hit
a bigass pothole!!

thanks for this video mines do the same thing n every time i went to see a
girl and ask me in what car i am i said a mercedes but when i get there
whit that f noise that 🙁 gegegegeg but thanks i going to buy the part
rigth away

Danny says:

@Sixfigganigga69 22’s probably contributed to the cause, but I would try
changing out the lower ball joint before changing the control arm. What
could have easily happened is that when you hit the pot hole, it cracked
the ball joint and all the fluid leaked out, which is why you are hearing
all the squeaking noise.

Edward S says:

yeah but its a motherfucking bitch to get the ball joint out of the socket
and the cheap ball joint from china aftermarket dont last too long

MSUspartan54 says:

does it make the noise when you turn mine does it when pushing down and
tuning the wheel

HMSAAB says:

there so husdaloose was correct!

Danny says:

@MSUspartan54 ; it happens whenever I create downward pressure on the lower
ball joint/control arms, regardless if the wheel is straight or turned…
it sounds like yours is in the early stages of going out since the control
arm is stressed a little more when turning

husdaloose says:

Sure, its the joint, ittle probably cost you about 40 dollars, the cause
may be that you hit the suspension a little hard and the joint broke and
let out all the oil, which made it dry, dont worry 🙂 nothing costly

Lower ball joint

Mary Morello says:

Ever find out what this was? My car is doing the same thing….Please let
me know

whipskushgirls says:

dude mine is horrible i can barely drive it cause the squeeks are so
fucking loud it makes my blacked out benz sound retarted.

Danny says:

Sorry for not being a little more specific in my response. Yes, the issue
with my car was a defective/leaking lower ball joint. Bought a new, heavy
duty lower ball joint for about $45 (oem was about $35) and ball joint
press from harbor freight for about $20 (you can prob rent this tool from
autozone or kragens). From my DIY experience, a impact wrench makes this
job a piece of cake. If you don’t have one, a cheater bar is very effective
as well, it just takes a little more work and time.

I have the same exact problem. Thank you for posting the info/video. Now I
have an idea of what to expect in terms of a bill of repair. 🙂

Danny says:

Yup, as it turns out, it was a defective ball joint on that axle. It cost
me less than $50 for parts and a few man hrs to put in the new part. Now I
don’t have to hide my face as I drive through town.
