Transmission Control Module install on a 2007 Mazda 3 (13 year old car) | Did it fix the problem?

Is your car shifting really hard? Or your check engine and AT llight comes on? I will be showing you a transmission control module install on my 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback. I am installing this TCM to hopefully fix the hard shifting in my Mazda. Initially, I thought I just needed to change the transmission filter and fluid so it will stop shifting hard. Well, that didn’t fix the problem.

Like I said, I am hoping this new TCM on my 13 year old car will make it run smooth again.

Where can I get the module part ??

Roy Quesada says:

Did you have codes that started you on this journey?

Bob K says:

Start by changing the fluid and filter if it's been >75k miles since the last change. Other than old fluid, most Mazda transmission problems are caused by a bad TCM. Because the TCM is bolted to the top of the transmission, the heat damages it over time. Usually goes bad between 100-200k miles. I replaced the TCM on my Mazda 5 at 175k miles. Relocated the TCM and attached it to the brake lines to prevent heat damage. Currently have 215k miles and still running strong.

Caz says:

Where did you buy the part from?

Waterpassion says:

I hope this is the only thing wrong with my Mazda. She just started randomly down shifting from 5th to 4th gear on the hwy. She doesn't do it anywhere else. I can't get past 60mph and she does whine and shudder a little when she finally changes gears. About thirty minutes later the problem fixes itself. Sounds gunked up too. So I hope the combo of fluid, filter, and tcm will fix this. I'm obviously going to wait on TCM to see if that's all that it needs first but I'm so glad I found these Mazda videos. Thank you!

Satish Shukla says:

Should I relocate the TCM mine has 92K miles, I wonder I should do it as preventative maintenance instead of waiting it to blow up

On the 2010-13 3s, it is possible to do the job without unplugging the the computer that hangs on the side of the battery box. (Mentioning it in case someone is worried about having to unplug the two connections.)
2011 3, 2.5L. Changed the transmission mount & left the ecm plugged in. Two less connectors to risk damaging.
Now waiting for tcm to arrive from Upfix, $500 vs $800 from dealer. Seems 185,000 to 190,000ish miles is the lifespan for the tcm when mounted on top of the transmission? Hope the relocation makes the span much longer.
Encouraging video. Thank you.

I have the same problem in my 2006 mazda 5 and I uncovered it 2 times but I don't see the ATC anywhere do you know where ells can be?

Rick Riner says:

Did you do a transmission fluid and filter change as well?

Karla Pesina says:

Hi I used Upfix to repair my tcm. I installed it yesterday and I got the lights back on during my test drive. Do they go away? Or have to reset?

Kuengyal says:

Thankyou saved me 2000$ for now. Hopefully it will work for a longer time. I removed it and placed it like yours and problem solved. Fingers crossed

JP Jamaicain says:

I have the same problem on my 2006 🙁 but i have 400 000 +

Drewbeats says:

Have u heard of upfix ? Are they reliable

Gavin Powell says:

my at light was coming on 15 min after driving, I left my old tcm and relocated it , now my light comes on after about 45 min to hour if you have lots of km as I do and don't want to spend money on a part worth as much as my car now try that
