I changed the plugs on my Aunt’s Sable with the Duratec 3.0 (same as your
Mazda), and the fear of the job was worse than the job itself.

Kelvin Feliciano says:

It is the negative terminal first…. Because when taking the positive out
you could touch ground and kabumm blowms fuses of burn wires or even
computer. Oil in the spark plugs are rubber for the spark plugs . the come
with the valve cover gasket kit.

odsdrummer says:

What happens if you don’t change the engine coils and spark plugs and keep
driving on it? I need to change mine soon but I was just wondering what’s
the time frame to change them because right now I don’t have the money for
the job and I’m not a car person.

Sal Taglireno says:

Great Video… I have a mazda 6 V6 too.. I have done my front coils and the
rears I paid over $550. Is there a seal or gasket that needs to be replaced
on the manifold after its removed?

826quique says:

And thank you sir, very helpful video.

TheDOM900 says:

Thanks for the video! Did you ever figure out why there was oil all over
the plugs? If so what did you do to fix it, I have a feeling I’ll have the
same problem..!

826quique says:

I’ve had all the ignition coils replaced about a year ago roughly around
130k miles. My check engine light flashes when it rains. What do you think
the problem could be and do you think changing the plugs would correct the
issue I’m having? I have a 2004 mazda 6 v6 with 155k.

826quique says:

How long did the job take?

brutmaster08 says:

Well I got my car with 55k on it and drove to 137k, I have seen people
replacing spark plugs around 60k, while others like me drive way past that.
I would say that they are probably original. Here is what I bought for
coils..have not installed yet though, waiting to get the time to: IC 23
02-07 just google that and click on amazon. I have read some shaky engines
and after new sparks and coils they were fixed. Hope that is a good fix for
you, any least its due for replacement.

Rodney A says:

Great video, looking to change out the back 3 coils on my Mazda6. This vid
gives me some confidence that I can do this myself. Dealer wanted $511 to
change them out… obviously I told them no. Was going to find another shop
to do it, but I think I should be able to do this. I’ll let you know how it
goes.

brutmaster08 says:

Decisions are hard, I love my mazda6 too. I have not really modded my car
yet, I just have concentrated on my truck some…payments get in the way.
LOL. I might get a cold air intake in the spring will see…at 158k it
might need other repairs since almost everything is original. Best of luck
with your future. Brutmaster08

brutmaster08 says:

Hi, it could be a coil going bad. Is the service engine soon light on? It
can also be caused by a bad spark plug. I have helped another utuber and
got his working great again with new coils and plugs. BTW Thanks for
watching and you liked it. Creating good videos is hard. Let me know if you
need any other help. Brutmaster08

imfrommiami92 says:

Yea Its too bad. I bought the car at 69k miles, it now has 93k. Hopefully
when I run into some cash, ill get some real engine repair done on it. For
now, its my secondary vehicle that I use only in emergencies, so hopefully
itll last me a bit more before I have to do some major repairs. Thanks for
the help

june8758 says:

I just saw it,coooool….

brutmaster08 says:

I got the Bosch IR Fusions, but other good choices are NGK and
Autolite(what came on that car). Other than those I would stick away from
them. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, thanks for watchin!!

NeitouSama says:

Ok well I just finished replacing all the plugs and now after turning the
car on it’s idling extremely funny it keeps accelerating on its own and it
won’t go past 2,000rpm it’s like there’s zero power.

brutmaster08 says:

Yeah, I did, just have not had the time to fix problem. Thanks for
watching! RA

brutmaster08 says:

Hi, just got back from vacation, it took me about 4 hours. I took my time
to make sure I did not mess anything up. If you know a little about cars,
go for it. If you need help, watch the video, or ask I will help all I can.
If you are kinda scared to do it then don’t let the pro’s take care of it.
Good Luck!

issac njoku says:

So what caused the oil on the plugs???

Mints101 says:

The engine light doesn’t come on. Everything works fine. I bought the car
at 83, 300+ miles, now it’s almost 85,000miles. Did an engine oil change,
but that was happening before. If I don’t change it, will it cause
permanent damage to the engine. Thanks for replying back.

brutmaster08 says:

Hello, No it will not make smoke puff out of the exhaust, it causes burning
oil smell in the cabin of the car and under the hood when it gets hot.

brutmaster08 says:

Your very welcome, tat line you want to know about is on the back of the
intake correct? Its part of the Vacuum system if I am correct. Looks that
way. Always here to help.

brutmaster08 says:

Yes, it could be your spark plugs or a coil. Is the engine light on? If not
I would scan the car to see if it is misfiring. A coil could be the going
bad. Whats the miles on the current spark plugs? It also could be a vacuum
leak or a tranny problem. But I would first start with checking spark plugs
and coils.

brutmaster08 says:

With a 05 Mazda they are coil over and they can be replaced at one at a
time. There is no wire but the one that connects to it. Hope that helps. RA

TheBruceMagnum says:

The best spark plugs to get are the Autolite Iridium XP, better performance
and mileage.

imfrommiami92 says:

Hey, I have a 2003, and want to change out the front three spark plugs and
coils. Not mechanically inclined at all, but watching your vid, it looks
pretty easy! What tools do I need exactly to be able to change just the
front three?

Mo'uneek D. says:

that’s what was kinda thinking too. Can only hear it in the am. after that
its gone……..til next morning lol.Thanks!!!!

brutmaster08 says:

Your very welcome, and yes I did replace the intake manifold gaskets.
Manufacture recommends this.

brutmaster08 says:

If I can find some time this weekend I will video how mine is hooked
up…..looking to sell cold air? What brand? If I don’t get to it I will
try some night next week. Getting some truck parts back so want to start to
get to putting it back together.

Salma Leon says:

how long does the whole process take?

brutmaster08 says:

@KrowiSutek The starter is going bad…but mine has been doing it for about
3 years and I put over 24k a year on her. I figure with a stick shift if
she dies I can just push and off we go. LOL Its like the starter is over
revving after it starts or its dry. Car is too compact to give a care until
it starts to make a different sound or dies. If it dies…another video.
LOL Good Luck RA

brutmaster08 says:

I would say check the MAP Sensor, and Vacuum lines. Thanks for watching,
Good Luck! RA

Paul Colombo says:

This was a pretty good video…thinking about attempting it myself on a
Mazda6 with 186000 on it…how long did it take to do this?? A lot is
involved with removal of the intake manifold…and I did buy new gaskets
for that….just wondering if its not easier to let the guys that do it all
the time do it??

brutmaster08 says:

Your welcome, make sure to get the IRIDIUM plugs. The Bosch I see are on
sale…..rebate.

brutmaster08 says:

Your very welcome, good luck. Thanks for watching.
