I just bought that module today thinking its going to be a half hour job I
get it home…….I have a Mazda 6 V6 and the part I need to get at is
covered by wires and hoses – I can do it but it’s a big job

gs02wcj says:

Great video, but a few questions. 1. What problem makes you replace it? Is
it because your cooling fan stops running? 2. Do you buy the part from
Mazda dealer?

I Estevez says:

@jrcoconutkiwi Maybe you changed the window motor by now, but the only
advice is to be careful with the black sticky goo that they use to attach
the plastic film to the door frame. It can make a big mess on the seats or
on the door panel and is hard to clean. I used fresh hand wipes.

I just did this today to my 2004 MPV. I used the part “AJ51-15-15YA” which
is supposedly the newer, improved version. It cost $110 from my Mazda
dealership (as opposed to $100 on eBay plus $8 shipping). It was easy to do
the replacement; this was the first thing I’ve ever done on my own. I had a
very difficult time unclipping the electrical from the original so it took
me much longer than the video implies but the actual work involved was as
shown. Thanks!!

I Estevez says:

@dustyj22 I am not sure if the rpm was fluctuating, but it probably was
every time the fan went on and off.

I Estevez says:

Purchased the part on e-bay from aaaforeignauto on March 2011 and still
running good today ( Oct 2011 ). As additional info, I bought the Power
Window Regulator Motor ( Driver side window not working ) from am-autoparts.

Where did you get your module from? $50 is a great price!!

Mario Penjueli says:

Sorry typo “we DON”T have the quantities of units….”

chris hall says:

same with me. mazda would not cover the second one so i had to come out of
pocket for the repair. it was burnt up as i am sure the first one was.
$55.00 buckets on ebay and that’s with fast freight.

Andrew Paul says:

Mine does the exact same thing. simple fix.!

Mark Gottlieb says:

Thanks. Helpful video. Just did this today (20 minutes for me). Fan was
running loudly at high speed most of the time, even when cold. Also kept
running occasionally when I turned off ignition, although temp was medium.
Mine had already been replaced once under a recall (’03) but they wouldn’t
cover a second failure. I hear many MPVs (and probably Tributes) doing this.

That van is about tired of you touching its modules. Van sex automobile
porn!

I Estevez says:

I purchased the part on e-bay from seller “aaaforeignauto” on March 2011.

Mario Penjueli says:

This clip is the shit. From everything I can find this is an extremely
common fault with the Mazda’s especially the mpv’s. unfortunately here in
NZ we do have the quantities of units available, so the only options after
a whole lot of looking was $250NZ for a second hand unit or $520NZ brand
new. Very common fault but five minute job to replace a fan control module,
as shown here. good work!

gqonpoint says:

Where can I find this part for $50???!!!!

I Estevez says:

Problem was that the fan was running even when the engine was cold. The
last few weeks, the fan would never stop, it would be running all the time.

jrcoconutkiwi says:

i have the same exact problems on my mpv… fan cntrl & d/s window faulty.
Any advice for changing the window motor? thanks

len chong says:

I have a 2001 mpv , are they all the same ? Thanks in advance .

gs02wcj says:

Thanks! My car has a similar problem now. The cooling fan is on when I turn
on the A/C fan (no A/C) in the early morning even it is only 50F!

dustyj22 says:

tnx for the video. i am actually picking up a new control unit from the
dealer tomorrow. my question is, when it was acting up.. did u had any
issues with your rpm fluctuating? going down back and forth from 750 to 500
rpm and then shoots back up to 750? thanks
