Mazda MazdaSpeed3 AEM Cold Air Intake Step-by-Step Install

Mazda MazdaSpeed3 AEM Cold Air Intake Step-by-Step Install

We’re pretty sure Mazda didn’t plan for the turbocharged Mazdaspeed3 to make over 25hp at the wheels with just an AEM cold-air intake. They’ll be pleasantly …

Right on, get a rear motor mount and a traction bar from tb performance or corksport and reduce shit tons of wheelspin

Yousuf Zuberi says:

@mikes08gtms3 my speed 3 has only a reflash, and I spin 2 from the second I shift all the way to redline

Bones12x2 says:

Its actually made by AEM…they just put mazda on it.

marksuave25 says:

I have a mazdaspeed6 and yes it does give you a lot of Ho and torque gains. Road and track did the same thing to a mzspd3 and for gains of like 25 Hp. The hydrolock problems are not a concern. I rains a lot where I live and I don’t have that problem. Put a rain sleeve on the filter and forget about it.

mike s says:

That’s weird Mazda makes a cold air intake for this car!

mike s says:

Chuck baker is an idiot, I don’t think anyone drives in 2 and a half feet of water! Ya get a short ram and get heat soaked! Your an idiot, get outa hear newbie!

stevew145 says:

only if they can prove it was the modifications fault directly. Its a bit of a grey area but there are laws to protect you when you modify your new car. Unless you suck up a rock or something you should be ok. If anything does happen and you are concerned, just get the car towed home first, replace with factory item, then get it towed in.

Chuck Baker says:

yay if water splashes up in the bottom of car the intake will suck it up and destroy the engine woo!

ALIALI Ali says:

shouldn’t but stealerships look for ANY reason to void warranty.

Ronald Pemberton says:

Will it void the warranty?

theangelpandora09876 says:

Lol saw this a week too late, but if you can’t do this simple little project, you don’t need to be touching your Ms3

K Thompson says:

Isn’t the torque what gives you the pull between gears for than the horsepower? I noticed the torque went up by 61!

Yanik Thomas says:

I got this for my 2012 ms3 and love it! I highly doubt that gains are THAT high but at least 15-20 for sure. This thing sound so so so sick when it spools up. and for hydroplane I live in socal so it really doesn’t rain much but if it does you just cant boost much and have to drive smart. I am about to get a cobb AP so I can post of some of the numbers i get

John Evans says:

The AEM without a tune won’t produce the gains they claim, so how much would a tune produce without the AEM, prpobably the same amount of gain on the dyno as with the AEM, and without the risk of damaing your motor from water damage…..

jvgusgus69 says:

how about a vid on how to remove the front bumper?lol thanks

hp11208 says:

whats the year,is this the same for 2008

barrenseaoffrost says:

i have a 2012 MS3. i really want this intake. is it the same one listed on the AEM website? i’ve heard many-a-folk say the 1st gen parts fit perfectly and im confused. someone help please.

mike s says:

Trust me the intake makes a hell of a difference for this car. It’s very restricted stock. U spin in 2nd gear with it like crazy. Cold air Is Going to be more power than the Short ram, ur sucking in all the hot air

Dosalt says:

INJEN VS AEM ?

wagaiznogoud says:

the eti system which comes with the intake system tunes the maf sensor.
OR thats what i think it says on their website so basically the car wont throw a cel and its basically ready to go.

bloodyangel5463 says:

the one you trow on the garbabge you will take at the end of the video ??? -.- Come on stop it stupid asian BEABLE

justin ferguson says:

my only question is how does the ecu do without being tuned for the extra air inflow? or does the ms3 need to be tuned after the cai install?

Ryan Holwell says:

Ya, that’s a given. A turbo engine has a major advantage at altitude over NA. And? Anybody who knows anything about engines knows that.
I was referring to the “magic” 25hp that these guys “unlocked” with their whiz-bang product. I gotta SR CAI on my 09 speed3 (not an AEM btw), and sure it sounds better and it feels a little faster, but I could never say definitively that it gave me anywhere near a 25hp gain (and my CAI was under development for almost 2 years). This vid is BS

its2realj says:

Naturally aspirated cars are turbocharged cars intake air at different rates and mechanics. A perfect example is when you take both cars to a higher altitude. The NA car will simply under perform due to the lower air density. The turbo car will simply work the turbo harder by applying more boost to make up for the lower density air. Thats why i always say exhaust and intakes basically do nothing for NA cars, but its a totally different story for turbos.

TheS13freak says:

@LFADDRIFTER SEE !! your right but that what people tend to misread oh am getting a car with 263bhp when your not,but for a little hatchback like that to be making over 200whp isn’t bad but i really hope they make a awd version i would really like to see that.So for all car shoppers everywhere dont be fooled but what the car is making to the crank but to the wheels is what matters.

TheS13freak says:

@coldfuzionxx no it wouldn’t i have a mazda3 now that i just put in a cai,i called my warrenty place to make sure i can do it.same goes with a exhaust you can get only from the cat back nothing more.now if you hydolock your car due to the cai your assed out your not covered

LFADRIFTER says:

not really my friend got his 08 mustang gt he put it on a dyno just for fun and instead of 300 hp he was at 210hp his car was only 8 months old this is because the measure the hp at the crank instead of at the wheels

TheS13freak says:

No it wouldn’t as long as you ask and doesn’t mess up anything on the car. But I wouldn’t throw a coldair no sir, and the mazdaspeed is supposed to have 260 256 something like and 280 ft of tq that insane that it lost that much power

Stephan Forde says:

27hp increase wtf.

coldfuzionzxx says:

Too bad it`ll void your warranty at the dealers.

YoDaJedEye says:

Bull shit….

The numbers from the very first Dyno run was 211.1 HP @ 5383 RPM. The torque was 223.6 @ 4066 RPM. Video mark 0:52

The Final numbers are 238.9 HP @ 6164 RPM and 294.8 @ 3062 RPM. Video mark 2:26.

That’s 27.8 increase in HP and 71.2 increase in Torque.

Video mark 2:39 he says the “stock” made 210.4 hp and 220 torque, and after it made 238.3 HP and 286.3 torque. Where is he getting his numbers from? he’s wrong!!!

Seriously WTF did he do to get those numbers?

MrGinoboy says:

How much is the AEM COld air intake?

bmxmaniac10 says:

Torque went to 290? How legit is this?

bmxmaniac10 says:

Torque went to 290? How legit is this?

ManRossDamn says:

holy shi!

miguel559 says:

lol lost alot of torque there

jwhughes2x says:

I’m not worried about the Hp but it went from 223 TQ to 294TQ. Thats crazy if this is legit.
