bpm03 says:

Dj, my prc solenoid is not work in at all, could that cause my car to not
idle at all? Also it shakes violently and sounds like its detonating to
much fuel, also my spark plugs indicate an extremely rich mixture and it
emits a bit of black smoke from the exhaust, main issue is no idle, runs
rough, stalls, but forcing it to run revving above 3k rpm it runs perfectly
normal

Michael Rokofsky says:

I haven’t done all of the tests you demonstrate in the video, but the PRC
solenoid has a knob on the end (the part with the Mitsubishi logo). It
twists a little bit. Is that a sign of a bad solenoid?

mrjost55 says:

Okay I gotta say that this video simplified the diagnostics from my Factory
Service Manual by a lot. I might actually try the things you showed in
here, just because I don’t need any special tools.

DJDevon3 says:

No that’s normal. To my knowledge that’s part of the normal operation of
the solenoid that has never been explained in any documentation or videos.
It’s difficult to explain. Recommend you read the factory procedures for
the PRC valve over at PMX626.info. The part with the Mitsubishi logo does
in fact have a purpose but I can’t remember it off the top of my head. I’ve
been drinking and I’m on vacation in DC.

Michael Rokofsky says:

I have a P1250 code (PRC solenoid malfunction) on the OBDII. Found a
used/tested one from a reseller for $20 so it seems worth it to just
replace it. I hear everyone’s drinking in DC, and suddenly, everyone’s on
vacation.
