Nice vid brut. Thanks for helping a rookie like me. I just bought a Mazda6
2008 2.0 (Gasoline), do you know if this would be the same procedure on a
2008 model, like mine? Where in this vid did you change the oil-filter? Is
this procedure considered as a complete oil and oil-filter change, as they
would do it in the auto mechanic? Hope u have time to answer 🙂 best
regards

John Zoll says:

YES . . . make sure you clean the oil plug.

Ivan Rodriguez says:

Really good video.thanks

Flynt Fisher says:

does it have to be synthetic? i have 140k miles on it…

brutmaster08 says:

Your Welcome!!!

brutmaster08 says:

@sd6515 As of right now no, but I have done extensive research on this and
narrowed it down to Oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, front seal, or
rear seal. My weather has been not great, but maybe this weekend I will get
some time to see what I can find out. I will post a video if I get to it
and will try to let you know. RA

brutmaster08 says:

@severedties24 So what you saying is you could not get it off but then did,
but whats not pulling through? I’m confused. Please clarify so I can give
more direction. thanks, RA

brutmaster08 says:

@Dosalt Hey hope you try again, its easy if you got ramps, light, flat
surface and warm air. See my comment above this one. Randy

brutmaster08 says:

Your very welcome!! Yes shops are so stupid putting them on, if too tight
they can sometimes leak. If you read the directions they tell you to hand
tighten. I like the K&N it has the big 1 inch socket end, just wrench it
off. Glad I could help. Get some ramps for $30-50 at any auto store, got
mine at wallyworld years ago.

brutmaster08 says:

From what I have read, it can be hard because the exhaust is in the way if
I am correct.

D Gennaro says:

I don’t understand why but my oil filter is impossible to fit by the
exhuast.

Izabela Borlee says:

Omg… looks so easy…. why I don’t ever do it by my self? Great video! 🙂

Roy'sPort says:

when the gasket does not come off and you put the new one with out check,
upon engine start the oil will spill all over!!! Don’t dare ask how i know
lol

brutmaster08 says:

@Dosalt OMG I can’t believe you have tried an impact wrench, but yes they
are on very tight. Usually if you have a shop change your oil they shock
the crap out of it. I usually put the wrench on it and then take an dead
blow hammer and whack it a few times. Mine came of easily because I change
my oil in the summer. Winter usually I have the shop do it and they sock
the crap out of it. I drive 6-8K between oil changes and it never gets
loose. Good Luck again. RA

brutmaster08 says:

UMMMM, it should slide right out like I did mine. Is it a different filter
than mine? Is it the same engine? 3.0l? Hope you got it out. Sorry I did
not reply faster. Good Luck!! Thanks for watchin. Brutmaster08

Dosalt says:

@brutmaster08 It’s below freezing but decided to try again, there is a 15mm
bolt as you said but it doesn’t come off (very tight). I had an impact
wrench but no luck since very little access up there. Also tried some
penetrating oil, did everything possible and failed miserably. You took the
plug off easily

Wang Qing says:

Under the wheels? What’s that? What name?

severedties24 says:

yeah, i unscrewed it… but it would not pull through, for some reason its
extremely tight i guess between the frame, and heat shield, i had to have a
mechanic pry it out!

SombraLocs says:

What do you mean by tight then a 3/4 turn?

brutmaster08 says:

Screw it down to a light snug then due a 3/4 turn more. Usually that its,
most state that. Good luck, thanks for watching.

231jacol says:

With full respect for movie maker but you should wait few hours to get all
oil drain out. I know there is not to much old oil in but that oil have a
lot of little piece of metal that gonna be mixed with the pure-fresh oil
and also use the chemicals to clean the engine before you fill up engine
with new oil.

sN UCExhAVOk says:

If you havent changed or checced this yet. Checc the PCV valve to make sure
its nit the source if your oil loss problem if you havent yet fixed it.
Notorious for gettin stucc open and consuming a ridiculous amount of oil in
such a short time. Considering you’ve had that 6 for 4yrs,Im sure your
aware of this problem. If not, just thought Id let a fellow 6 owner know.
Just bought mine a month ago. Enjoying it alot. Changin my oil this week.

demans81 says:

Good video. Thanks much

Dosalt says:

I can’t locate the oil drain plug, struggled today and gave up

brutmaster08 says:

Hello, thanks for visiting my channel. For my 05 Mazda stick shift I get
about 29 on the highway and 25 in town, about 27 overall. I shift between
2k and 2.5k. Also I drive down to 40mph in 5th gear and take it back up to
speed. Depends on traffic though. How many miles on the one you looking at?
Randy

Ethan Wallace says:

I just got a 2004 Mazda 6 about to change the oil, do you know if the
filter and oil plug are in the same location for all M 6’s up to the new
body style?

brutmaster08 says:

I would double check the dip stick and make sure its full. The V6 takes 6
quarts when changing oil and filter. Other than that, not really sure. Have
to research that more. Good Luck.

SombraLocs says:

I’ve changed the oil in my car and the oil light comes on and off every
time I push on the brakes. What can it be?

FreedomRider .FreedomRider says:

Mazda 6 🙂 I have 2004 model and its amazing, nice vid

brutmaster08 says:

Its pretty much the same with only a little change. Sorry late reply been
really busy with full time job and trying to get my truck back together.
Let me know if you need any help.

jack meoff says:

Did you ever narrow down exactly where the oil was going? I have an 04 6 s
that is losing oil the same way and it is driving me crazy trying to figure
it out

brutmaster08 says:

If you have a 3.0L V6 watch my video starting at the 4:00 min mark, you
should see it right there on back of oil pan. Good luck, Randy

brutmaster08 says:

@mailman7478 Hey, great idea I have some white scott towels that I use
everywhere around the house just a step lighter of the blue. I wash my red
rags, so reusable. 🙂

brutmaster08 says:

Its a Mazda 6 non diesel. All V6 Mazda 6’s do not have plastic covering the
whole bottom, at least mine didn’t when I got it over 4 years ago. Thanks
for checking out my video, remember to hit like and subscribe if you like
videos like this one.

Aaron Johnsen says:

Thanks for the vid. I just changed the oil in my 2007 6 and had the WORST
time with removing the oil filter. Previously I had taken it to Pep Boys
and they really put the filter on tight. It really sucks when you don’t
have a ramp as the angle of the filter is really awkward. I’d like to point
out to anyone doing this for the first time to make sure to get a oil
filter socket (maybe even put something like sandpaper in the socket for
grip). There is no space for a wrench and little for a strap.

brutmaster08 says:

The ramps?

Jose Esqueda says:

how much mpg does an 05 mazda 6 v6 get ? like I have a Honda civic 2002 and
I get like 31 mpg so I want too know how much I can get from a mazda 6 v6
2005

brutmaster08 says:

Its the wrong filter or the exhaust has been modified. It should just slip
through between the exhaust and engine. I have changed my a ton of times, I
drive a lot. Model of correct filter for the V6 is 2010. Good Luck in the
future!!

popovicvl says:

Did Mazda 6 Diesel have bottom cover?

Greenmonoluche says:

Hmm that’s weird when I try to take out my oil filter it doesn’t fit
through there could it be my motor mount?

june8758 says:

thanks a lot bro, now I get to make sure I have a good filter and good oil
in my car
