Shawn Little says:

Great video. Thanks very much. Very straight forward.

sepideh rajaeirad says:

It helped. thanks.

WHVN3S says:

Glad it helped!

WHVN3S says:

@cfs527 Glad I could help! Yes, it would have been nice if they had aligned
the hole up with the oil filter. I have come to the realization that
there’s nothing easy on this car to work on. I’m sure they engineer these
newer cars to try and prevent people like you and I from doing our own
maintenance.

cityspeighce says:

Why is it 5W-20 oil and a filter cartridge? Is this some sort of racing
application?

Bulgdoom says:

@WHVN3S Mazda’s don’t have an opening in the undercarriage for the filter
and drain bolt, its a hassle and wastes a lot of time which could have been
used better

WHVN3S says:

@mana619 I’m not sure why certain places won’t do the oil change on your
Mazda. My guess would be because they don’t want to deal with the cartridge
type oil filter. It’s more messy than a standard oil filter and takes
longer to deal with. Other than that, I have no idea.

WHVN3S says:

@veteran011 I guess a quality hydraulic jack would be your best bet for
lifting the car. I personally just use the emergency jack with a jack stand
for now. I actually put a solid concrete block underneath the jack so I can
get more height for the jack stand. I’d eventually like to get a hydraulic
floor jack though. I don’t mess with ramps because my car sits pretty low
and I’ve also heard that the ramps can fail which kind of scares me.

tiehut says:

yes. 2010 mazda 3 has regular oil filters that replaced completely. and you
do not need to remove plastic underpan. there is a hole for filter removal.

northskokie says:

I liked it. The engine cover are a trial. Pull up hard on the top cover.
And be careful with the bottom cover plugs. This video is very good except
it should show a little more on the filter reassemble. If it is you first
time be carful with the gaskets. I’ve marked this a one of my favorites.
Thank you for posting it. And 5-20 oil is hard to come by.

Jonathan Lomeli says:

How is the tire wear/ road noise with the falken 912’s?

JoshuaM says:

Best comment EVER

Ansberto Gonzalez says:

thanks for posting this video. This answers a few questions I had about my
girlfriends Mada 3. Needs an oil change and I would feel like a chump if I
didnt turn the wrench myself. My only question left is why couldnt any
mechanic or forum be this straight forward. Thanks again. Straight forward
and easy. We use mobile 1 too.

WHVN3S says:

Not sure off hand.

juanmvilla says:

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for making such a quality video. My dad
got this 3 for my mom, and was about to do the first oil change and had no
idea. Your video is dead on. Thanks a lot man.

WHVN3S says:

@bigpapahades Good to see some others turning the wrench too. I think I can
answer your question on why mechanics or forums aren’t being straight
forward on how to do an oil change. If the public knew how easy it was to
change their own oil, the dealers and Jiffy Lube’s would be out of a damn
job dude.

TP92128 says:

Thanks for posting! Does anyone know if the process is very different for
the 2010 Mazda 3 2.5?

Andrianatrehina RATSIMBAZAFY says:

Thank u. 🙂 very helpfull.

pn084 says:

great video… now i can attemp my first oil change…

Mike Feldman says:

Thanks, very helpful in planning for my first oil change! Bought a “B”
filter wrench from autozone after realizing from your vid I needed one, and
everything went very smooth.

Eric in oregon says:

It’s 75.6mm or 2 31/32 inches.

WHVN3S says:

It’s an AEM with a water bypass installed.

Harold Batista says:

Nice video!!! Helped a lot!!!

farvuh4 says:

is this is the same for a 2.0? same year just different engine. I’m going
to replace the spark plugs too? is it easy? I didn’t want to pay the dealer
$250 when I’m certain I can do it myself

vukboris says:

never done anything similar but mate thanks to You I am going to do it
right now. A very good prezentation. Thanks.

stringcatt says:

@WHVN3S there was a washer and an o-ring on the 17mm drain plug? Nothing on
mine, metal to metal.

Irakli Chakaberia says:

Do you really have to remove the splash guard? It seems to have a hole
where the oil filter is, doesn’t it?

S L says:

Great video. Thanks much!

Oscar Nolan says:

Why do you have to take off the engine cover?

mana619 says:

I have changed oil a thousand times. But you know, it is a hassle so I
haven’t changed oil in a few years because I just hated collecting the oil,
recycling, getting dirty, LOL! I took my Mazda to a couple places and they
did not want to do my oil change on the Mazda3???? I just got too lazy in
my older age and never bothered. But now after watching your video, I
really don’t see that the problem is for any mechanic to do it. Only
certain places will do the Mazda 3. Do you have any idea why?

tellurianix says:

thanks for this, it’s really helpful. On an unrelated note, my wife made
admiring comments about your hairy arms, so I’ve locked her in the bathroom
while she reconsiders her views. that’s how I roll.
